Was a big legendary bird that used to defend the land from evil. Europeans called them pheonix.
Was also the name of a Warlord, and the name of a Royal bodyguard (cant remember which century).

Interesting how a Ducati designer copied a Honda design.
Betcha if you told that to a 916 owner, he would tell you to go and eff yourself !!!

Thats quite ironic lol

Now thats a technology lol

They work pretty good against 4wd's, im only a little braindead.
But i think the bullet thing is a bit far.

Maybe withstand an air rifle pellet or a 22mm, but I think a .50cal round from a Barret sniper rifle would do it a weee bit of harm... :gob:

The crucial question... from what range? The helmet would withstand 30mm cannon rounds once they've lost enough energy... :)

"When cornering, 75 per cent of a bikes grip comes from the front tyre."
When your properely tipped into the corner the front wheel does nothing unless you change your line - thats why it can come off the ground under power and you still keep cornering

actually, the Hayabusa is a japanese falcon, not a mythical entity. it preys on small rodents, fish, and blackbirds, divebombing at speeds in excess of 300km/h to acheive it's goal.
i hear it also gives ninjas a hard time.

Pellet from air rifle, maybe. 22 calibre (22/100ths of an inch bullet diameter, which you're probably thinking of in the context of the .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridge), very unlikely.
22mm?
That's a fucking cannon round, dude. The helmet would vaporise.
Actually, I don't think there's ever been a standardised cartridge in 22mm calibre (in the general 'projectile diameter' sense, not the '100ths of an inch measurement' sense), could be wrong of course...

Yes - but does it deflect off a Shoei?

a .22in Hayabusa might, or a 30mm one at 'siberia to invercargil, take your pick which way round' type ranges...

"Steve McQueen didn’t do the famous 65 ft motorcycle jump in The Great Escape. American Triumph dealer Bud Ekins did it – in one take."
And did you know, our very own Tim Gibbs was part of the stunt team (as a back up rider I think) for that shot.

When your properely tipped into the corner the front wheel does nothing unless you change your line - thats why it can come off the ground under power and you still keep cornering
I think you'll find the front tyre does plenty when cornering. The fact that it can come off the ground is that, when under power the force imparted on the rear tyre changes from being just an outward force and becomes a downward force as well, thereby compensating for the lack of grip at the front.
(I'm happy to be proven wrong by any physics majors).:msn-wink:

I wonder if that's got anything to do with the fact that the most popular profession amongst bikers is, indeed, engineers. Or whether GSXR's are the most popular bike amongst engineers  :dodge:

Yes...only exception is where it wont rev that much, but if you accurately extrapolated it itd still cross there.
Its because HP = Torque x Revs / 5252
So where Revs = 5252 then the formula becomes HP = Torque x 1
