Yep, as the title suggests Myself and about 3 other bikes had a lovely lane split with a police bike this morning from Tawa to the Gorge.
I'd travelled my normal journey from Paraparam which generally fairly clear, with another rider, and was just coming to the usual jam at Tawa, when I spotted a couple of bikes in the traffic with a police bike in front.
BUGGER! caus' it's about another 15k's or so to town now and I dont' want to sit in traffic. As I got closer I was amazed to the see the cop splitting, with the other bikes following. Nice one!! So, on we went, and he wasn't shy about it either, even splitting in fairly good flowing traffic and continued all the way down the Gorge!! :gob:
For those of you who don't know the gorge, it can be dodgy at the best of times.
So, the lovely police gentleman took us all the way to the end of SH1.
Respect... :first:

Did you give him a friendly toot of a hornal nature when you left off?
What a nice Mr Plod. May the rest of his day be filled with satisfying criminal apprehensions and pleasant coffee breaks.

I gave him a wave as we passed him. I noticed he turned to each of us as we passed. Actually there was one dude who seemed a bit reluctant to get too close to him.... Hmmm....

When I was travelling from Raumati South to catch the ferry for the 2005 Southern Cross in rush hour traffic, a bike cop I caught up with actually motioned for me to tuck in behind him and I got a tow through the traffic all the way to the top of the Gorge where he turned off. Amazing service!

He probably saw the girth of your arse so figured he should stick his super wide bimmer through the traffic to make sure you had room.
Either that or realised that as per usual you were running late from shagging all night so did you a favour.
How nice of him. Shame he didnt do the same for me a few weeks back. fucker

Strangely enough, the bike cops are 'almost' on our side. Hope he doesn't send you an account 'for services rendered' :killingme

Did you find the cars moved over for him (kept left of lane) more-so than when on your own?

I had an ambulance clear the path for me last week. Came up the Tawa slip to see the disco lights go by. Tucked in behind and had a nice pleasant ride into Welly.

Ha ha now sit back and wait for the lane splitting fines to roll in!!!
Maybe he was setting you up and as you rode past waving he was taking down your number plates!!
Ah what a devious scheme and you guys fell for it probably had a rear mounted camera on the bike as well!
The NZ police are more cunning than a weasel in a hen house!

The cop in the white ute dragging you thru 15km of traffic jam was my bro-in-law on the way to the truck rollover in the gorge. They knew you guys were there. We were talking about it in the spa pool last night. He's a biker too!
They were having a wee chuckle about it on the way along the motorway.:scooter:

was coming back from the holliday break. Before orewa huge traffic. Started splitting on the yellow line, slowly slowly - 20k max. Reached a cop car. slowed looked at him (as to ask is it ok ?) he noded , a thumb up and on I went. 3 min lated he got fed up, lights went up and he went on his merry way too. Nice cops are not only on bikes , some nice traffic car cops too. respect to all who protect us.
