one of the best i have heard of,
in th tarawera 100 in 04, Craig Brown crashed while running 3rd Damian King who was running about 5th at the time, stopped and helped him as he was in a fair bit of pain, and waited till someone else stopped (michael cotter who was about 15th), Damian King then got back up and got 2nd, (i was running about 10th, stopped to see Damian and kept going to get the next marshall on the track) that was pretty special for Damian to stop,
(Craig is my brother and law and business partner,)
thier is a fair bit of this in Cross Country racing, as quite often when you crash you are in the middle of nowehere

How's about last nationals at Teretonga when Stroudy trashed his 600 and Andrew Evans gave up his ride so Stroudy could use his bike....?.
Shaun mentioned it earlier in the year and should be able to fill in the details for you.

I'm not sure about that. Sure, helping a fallen (injured) rider at the cost of your own race is good sportsmanship. Clapping when the opposing team scores - which I heard Irene Van Dyk got disciplined by her own team for - is good sports(wo)manship. Walking when you know you're out and the umpire didn't see it is good sportsmanship.
But giving up on your own race to help someone else win? That's not what sport is about, IMHO.
