Booooo bloody hiss
Had my new toy for a week today exactly & dropped it already & I cant even blame my dodgy hip :crybaby:
Was at a mates place who has a steep drive way (not silly steep but on a lil up hill)...anyway, first time to his place on my new bike and once at the top he suggested I park on the street as there wasn't enough room, so I rolled back & turned left hand down & then proceeded to push myself forward to max amount then switch direction and push myself back again, 3 point turn type thing, looked like I was gunna make the last turn but just as I got to the end of it it looked like I wasn't going to make it (either side of the drive way is a concrete fence). I stopped & tried to push back again but before I knew it over I went, bike in all lol. I did that crap ass roll over, feet over ya head deal.....must have looked funny for the neighbours :innocent:
Ok, im over it now, feel much better after spilling the beans
Starving kids in the Sudan & im moaning about my scratched bike............which I did all by myself..........*snap out of it Boob*
Ok so damage control....pic below of said damge. Now question is.......ive got some turtlewax with the "chip stick" which is like a stick of lipstick, apparently you fill in the chips with it and wax over top. Is it better to do the quick fix? Or take it to a pro to sort it good n proper?

Its best to do the fix the day before you sell it, if you do it now, you are just asking for more!

Nah, its all good mate. You gotta have a couple of chips and scratches so the bike doesn't feel so new.
Look on the bright side - you dropped it and it didn't cause you grief.
I've dropped mine three times now in the same way.
1) Pulling up in front of MotoMart in Lower Hutt. Frosty decides to do a stoppie in front of me in a borrowed VFR750 - I yank the stoppers on, go to put the foot down - find nothing but air. Cost me a mirror. Humorous point - Sparky Bills comes running out of the store with his notebook and pencil tallying up the damage. Nice one Martin...
2) I'm adjusting the foot brake. Youngest son decides he's going to get on the bike - and overbalances it, toppling it (and him) on top of me. Ouch. Only damage is bruises to leg and ego.
3) Backing out of the gargre. Foot slips in the rain and I overbalance. Bike sloooooooooooowly tips over and I gently lay it on the ground. No damage except to ego again.
You're not the only one...

Jeez at least I did drop mine by myself!! I had an idiot (of course it was ALL his fault) turn directly in front of me. After gently slamming sideways into his car I gently laid my bike down on the other side... got rid of 3 out of 4 indicators... as well as panels and fairings and radiator and a bruised headlight fairing frame (there are no straight second hand ones!) apart from that I did no damage at all... to the clown that turned in front of me!

I managed to slip over the other day, backing into a space where I park my bike. There is a large tree stump cut level with the ground, when wet it can be slippery as hell... For some reason i forgot it was raining and planted my foot expecting to have some grip! Weee... No damage to bike, thankfully :)

Heck, I rolled arse over heels after being hit in the back of the helmet by a duck! The fark'n thing didn't even have the grace to die or allow me the chance to catch it for dinner. I managed to save the bike from crashing... and stopped by the side of the road to have a breather. Dropped my foot onto gravel...and whoopsy-daisy.
Saw my legs go over the top of me and I was spread-eagled looking back at my poor bike.
Could swear I could hear the duck laughing at me ... only thing I had was a few tuffs of small feathers on the back of me helmet

Actually, I think the weight of the RF is about par for a sport-tourer of that capacity (800 to 1000 CC). Compare it with the competition - I suspect you'll find that they are all around about the 200 kg mark.

Mr Boobie, if I were you, I'd buy some touch-up paint of approximately the right colour, just so you don't feel bad/embarrassed every time you see the chips. It won't fix it (which you don't want to do anyway until you do a proper job of trashing the fairing panel), but it will make it less obvious.
MY VFR's in a similar state, after two near-standstill drops. It also has a few scratches and chips on the tank from grit getting under the tankbag. While it pisses me off every time I look at it, it's tempting the BikerGodz too much to get it fixed properly.
When I had my VFR750, I lowsided it, and scraped the hell out of the right-hand side. Luckily, I replaced the broken brake lever but left the rest as is, because a few weeks later a pedestrian leaped out in front of me, and I ended up with ~$3000 worth of repairs.
I hoping to not repeat the performance this time, but at least the touch-up paint means the 'battle scars' aren't noticeable from a few metres away. Like yours, the ones on the right-hand side stood out because underneath the paint the panel was white.
