View Full Version : A bend in the works

So, for WOF requirements I was required to fix the main stand, which rubs on the back wheel, so after taking the stand which had a visible bend in to the shop, and then trying to put it back on, I eventually crumbled and ordered a new (second hand) main Stand for the KR. The stand arrived, and totally excited I fitted the stand, only to find it still rubs on the back wheel.

So my off I had, apparently put a bend in the frame, or more likely the mounting for the main stand, how ever I can't find anything visibly bent, nor can I force the stand away from the back wheel. Since I'm not a huge fan of the shop here who quoted me far too much for previous work, any people feel like helping me out a little and straightening things out?

Does the KR have a side stand, if so take the main stand off.
Or can the main stand mounting be packed off away from the wheel by mounting main stand onto bolt on points with packers , washers or spacers.:scooter:

Yep, rip that stand off. Do a wheel alignment though, would pay to find out what is really bent.

A lot of stands aren't symetrical - is it on the right way?

I didn't think the KR150 had a main stand, only a side stand...

Has a main stand, which only fits on one way, trying it the other way wont even fit in the bracket.

I asked the WOF guy, said if they are fitted with a main stand, it has to have it on, or won't pass the wof. And its had an alignment when I got the new back tyre, at which stage I didn't have the main stand on. Now I need the main stand on to pass the wof.

I asked the WOF guy, said if they are fitted with a main stand, it has to have it on, or won't pass the wof. He's a cock, and misinformed. Sure if it is there, it needs to function safely, as it is bolted to the structure of the vehicle... but if it isn't there...

Never had a bike with a centre stand....never will....have a paddock stand in the garage.

Go to differnt WOF place and say it never had a centre stand then.

FFS it's a KR150!?!?!

The rest of the bike will weigh about the same as the centre stand!

If it has failed a WOF for the stand it will be logged in Big Brother computer, for any other WOF tester to see.

It was failed for rubbing on the back tyre and chewing the thread, though the 28 days has easily expired for the retest. Might have to give it a try without the main stand anyway, and then try to get things straightened out if it doesnt work after that

Any progress on getting the WoF? Taking the bike to another place seems like a really good idea.
