Oh dear. I am a sad bastard.
Three weeks without being able to ride is getting to me. :brick:
I found myself in Stages playing Sega Manx TT. Not a bad game, but it made some rather sickly noises when I was hanging off the bike trying to get my knee on the ground.
I had to stop myself from trying to tuck in under the nonexistent fairings on the game.
I even tried to challenge school children to a head to head battle.
Please someone, take pity on me and take me for a ride on your bike. Please please please please. :crybaby:

I think now is the time to turn up at all the bike shops for Test Rides.

I should probably mention that I've got my right wrist in a brace and am missing around about 20 degrees of movement in the wide open throttle direction, and have bugger all movement for turning the bars.
Good enough for crappy arcade games, but not quite sufficent for the real thing.

Ah, right.
Yer buggered then.

Ah, right.
Yer buggered then.
Pretty much.
I also should straighten the subframe, instruments and mirrors brackets before I get my 250 million cc beast back on the road.
I worked out that I managed to low side it, then high side it in the crash. Wahoo! Two crashes for the price of one!

I've got strength back in my fingers, so I can hold on, I just cant do a dreadfully good job of articulating the wrist joint. But I wouldn't complain if you wanted to duct-tape me to the seat of your bike. As long as it didn't get tired and decide to lie down and have a sleep on the road with me attached.

How long before your wrist is back in action?

Not sure. It's been three weeks since my last corner, and initially I was being treated for a scaphoid fracture and ulnar styloid process fracture (broke some of the knobly bit off the end of the small bone in my forearm)
The orthopedic specialist thinks think it's still broken, but the xrays don't show a definite break, or calcification that would occur at the point of the break.
Getting some physio to get the hand mobile currently, and will get a third set of xrays next Monday to see if they show anything different..
The ankle is progressing nicely, and I'm sure I'm over the concussion - my dopeness/confusion is within accepted parameters at the moment.
Just remember kids, listen to uncle Paparazzi when he says not to wear crap helmets. (bin was a good excuse to get a nice shiney HJC though)

No pillion seat/pegs on the GIXXER and TZR hardly pulls my own weight.

Mate, that sounds a bit worse than you made it sound at first... :eek5:
hope you can get the arm working well and ride your bike soon... i'm sure CBRs hate being parked up!

*Phwoar*...didn't realise you got busted up so bad back then Pap'...
As for withdrawal, I used to allow my self to get baited into KB forum arguments...I'm not so bad these days.
I'll give you a race on Manx. My flatmates were having giggles watching me knee down then full speed into the walls. It's wierd, the first time I played a motorcycle spacies machine since I started riding. Even more not like riding than those car games are unlike driving (does that make sense?). Kept trying to counter-steer the fucken thing, only the bars don't move!!!!
Maybe an idea for the (already fizzled and died again) Auckland KB'ers once a month meet...
Oh yeah, and get well soon :)

Oh no!
Didn't realise you'd had a spectacular off!
(When you've figured out how you managed both sides, please let us know..!) So: typically you should be out of plaster in 3 weeks.
I know this sounds like the ravings of a foolish hippy, but tincture of Comfrey (ask your herbalist and get the right dosage, too) helps your bones to knit better/faster. Plus a calcium/magnesium complex; there are good ones for people with crappy bones. I've done my scaphoid twice: it's no fun at all- make sure you get the right physio, too- it's really easy to end up with a weakened wrist. And we wouldn't want that, now would we... especially not your right wrist; so important for throttling and...er... other stuff...

Last time I saw the TZR in action it was pulling pretty darn well! ;)
Anyway, I'm sure I'd fall off the back of anything you were in charge of. :first:

when i broke my scaphoid it never recovered,
it has blood supply from one end
in the end they took out the whole proximal
row of bones.. lost a bit of grip though
not being negative though when i broke mine
i broke a lot more bones in my wrist

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that herbal stuff you've mentioned.
How did I manage to do both sides of the bike?
Well to recap I went straight through a left hand corner without really trying to turn for some reason (don't seem to recall entering the corner). I remember being on the grass gravel on the right hand side of the road, then riding / sliding / tumbling / flying (delete where applicable) down a 4m bank. I have a sneaking suspicion that myself and the bike bounced off the fence at the bottom of the hill.
The bike ended up on it's left hand side, and the left fairing had removed itself from the bike at some point down the hill, and neatly deposited itself beside me, behind me, on the bank etc. The bike had also recieved a hit on the right hand side, which wasn't as severe.
This suggests that it was upright for a portion of the journey, but I suspect that when it went over a drainage ditch thingy that it went pear shaped. Probably fell onto the right hand side there, then flipped onto the left when right hand clipon touched down or something. Whatever happened it recieved a good enough knock to force the left fork about 5-10mm up through the tripple clamps, which in turn allowed the left clipon to rotate through ~20 degrees when it hit the deck.
So the plastics are a bit rooted, but I think I should be able to salvage the top fairing and blade. Didn't break a mirror or indicator though, which I found amusing as I managed to bend the number plate, but not break the indicator on either side of it.
As for me I'm comming along ok, thinking about it, I'm still getting over the concussion a little bit. I'm sleeping more than usual, and am tending to get angry / depressed a bit more readily. However the brain does do a pretty good job of putting itself back together, so I'm sure it'll come right eventually.

When I dropped my bike a couple of weeks ago, I managed to bend the number plate too. Even though the rear indicator was damaged, I still found it a bit weird...

I know what you mean about the grumpy bit, as my brain's a bit fooked and gets that way, and when I banged my head I felt irritable too.
How long's it been?

Hey Pararazzi, if you need some (inexpert) help with straightening the subframe or maybe plastic welding the fairings, let me know.
I'm feeling like a right lucky bastard that I came off so lightly in my crash and you and the other people that have crashed lately haven't been so lucky.

I did think of just modifiying the mud guard so it looked straight in relation to the tire, but I think it'll be an idea to have a go at the subframe at some point, just to tidy it up. I don't think it'd affect it's ridability though.
I reckon a stout tree, some rope and a bottle jack should just about do the job for the subframe.
I'd really appreciate a hand with some plastic welding. I've got all the bits for the top fairing (which is more than I can say about the sides, even after FF's valiant attempt to find the missing pieces) I think the biggies are going to be getting the top fairing brackets back into shape. If it's ok I'll PM ya in a week or we can have a tutu with it.

I found it quite funny, I was feeling so sorry for you that you'd damaged your crank case and had hit your head on the road.. I was feeling quite ok, thought I just had a slightly sore wrist and ankle..
I reckon I did come off quite lucky, there were some trees on that bank that could have been the end of me, and I was lucky I didn't bend the frame or forks.

Yep, that sounds good. We'd need to find some similar plastic to use as a filler, maybe a wrecker might have some broken fairings or something. Or if the side fairings aren't going back on the bike, we could use them.
Keep in mind I'm a newbie with plastic welding. Pretty much all I've done is weld the mudguard on my bike where the indicator broke off. I haven't ever seen anyone else's plastic welding, so for all I know I could be making a mess of it... See the attached photos of the mudguard. I could probably get the weld seam on the outside to be a bit narrower than that, I was kind of trying to smooth it out with the soldering iron. I attacked the weld from both sides, to make sure it was melted right through, I'm not sure if that's standard practice or maybe it would work/look better if I just welded it from the inside.
Logan (or anyone else that's done this before), have you got any pointers?
