Hey Everyone! I know its been ages since ive lurked here let alone posted, further more started a thread. But just wanted to ask incase anyone was around the Royal Rd offramp/up to the liquor store around 8ish (at this stage) On Friday 10th August. Hoping you may have spotted a Van which pulled out knocked my brother off his FXR150 then ran him over and carried on doing a runner!.. Any Info is much appreciated, the police have the first 3 letters on the rego and are running what they can and narrowing it down asap. Hopefully they will find the bugger, as Currently the family are with Kurt (EMAGDNIM) at the hospital. Major blow to the head/poss brain damage, a fractured spine up at the neck and lung damage etc etc. Fingers are crossed and everybodys thinking positively so that he can come back from this and make a full recovery

Just thought id get the word out asap and the story as straight as it could be from the start.

Cheers you great KB'ers, Peace!

Good luck finding the scum who did this to him!

Cheers dudes.

So far all they have told me (there were a couple of witnesses they caught up with, and they are checking for CCTV cameras around) old (white i think) van, but it had a late number plate, as in 3 letters, they havnt told me what the 3 letters are but at least that rules it out to 999 vehicles, and starting from that there will only be 50 or less of those white vans etc then knock down on years etc. Lets just hope the letters the witnesses got were correct and we find the van! Either way it will have drivers side damage from a blue FXR slamming it.

Kurts still holdin up in Critical Care but on a ventilator etc. Hes a hard nut though!

Hells bells - what a bloody nightmare!

Sending lots of virtual strength to your brother and family - no hugs for bro, sounds like he'll be a wee bit sore for a while.

Let us know how he's going.

I bet they reel in the buggers - that's a reasonably good lead they've got so far. Just hope the van wasn't stolen.

Fingers and toes crossed for a speedy recovery.

1,I've just left Kurt, KK still up there, signs of improvement Kurt is still out to it with every vertebrae in his neck fractured and other less serious injuries BUT we have seen movement in one arm and leg and slight pressure in hand if ya shout loud enough!

2, the *@#!*#@! has handed himself in this morning, the van has been located, he is being interviewed by officers other than me!
(this country is too small for him to hide in as others already know)

3, all your thoughts are greatly appreciated by the whole family especially with it being only a couple of days off the second anniversary of Bruce's death!

NOW GUYS THANKS AND RIDE SAFE as the ole ST1100 will be parked up for a few days and its only the ole Turbo that either KK or myself will be riding, and I wont be stopping anyone on that!!!

Hi NodMan, thats great news about getting the f***er, hope you guys throw the book at him, things do happen but the fact that he drove off just shows how he has no balls, even if the guy paniced, 1 knows that they have to see if everything is ok.

Second that. But at least the guy handed himself in, so there is some conscience there, albiet buried waaaaay deep in his neanderthal brain.

I had a boyfriend years ago who'd come through a car accident resulting in a fractured spine in two places, and he was fully mobile. So hopefully your brother has been as lucky, too.

Hi KK and Nodman,

Sorry I haven't posted but I have been away at our Ulysses Rememberance Service weekend in Taupo. Rhino didn't go so as he wasn't feeling well so he has been filling me in on details about Kurt's accident via cellphone. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I said a prayer for you all at the service and for Bruce too.

I hope Kurt makes a full recovery, as you say he is tough nut and I am sure he will. I know Bruce will be looking down and looking after him.

I am glad the a-hole handed himself in and I really hope that there will be some justice and not just a slap-over the hand with a wet bus ticket.

By the way Happy Birthday Logan. Although I know you won't feel much like enjoying it.

Take care all of you at this stressful time.

It is a special day today with it being anniversary of Bruces (old fart) death. Wont be able to ride to his spot today BUT I know hes still riding on my shoulder everyday.

yeah guys its all going pretty damn good! To be honest hes been making progress faster then anyone had expected. Still not too sure on how high to hold hopes on how everything pans out, so focusing on each day as it passes and its been all great so far.

Was just in seeing Kurt and got him to open his eyes again, and then got him to speak!!! He is hard to understand but after much encouragement he does speak a little more clearly and words can be made out.
The world according to Kurt so far is:
Kurt, What day/Month is it?
November
Kurt, What year is it?
2008

Hey guys, so sorry to hear about the accident. I didn't spot it at first but I turned off at the Mobil intersection and saw all the cop cars etc right after the accident happened that night. I remember coming home and saying to my mrs that I hoped it wasn't a biker! I can't believe the makeup of people taking off after smashing someone off their bikes. I was bolled off my bike on triangle road just down from there the Sunday 2 days later! and the guy drove off up the road picked his family up and returned only to tell me I was speeding...not once asked me if I'm ok!

Good to see the police are pretty harsh on people who do leave the scene. My numb nuts was charged with careless driving causing injury which equates to approx $4000 fine and 6 months loss of license. Still doesn't compare to your brother's injuries or what could have happened to me if I didn't go over the car.

Be strong mate, your bro will need your strength and love. Let me know if I can help any way.

Hey all!!!

Its only just passed 2 weeks since the accident, and kurts still charging on with more and more progress.

He has since gone from critical care to an intense neuro ward, and just yesterday been transferred to a more regular ward. (i dunno all their names etc sorry!)

We have seen him recover so far to the point were he can get out of bed by himself, and walk across the room. He can now talk alot more clearly. And his old memory is all there short of the ride of the accident.

Basically now its just a long recovery time in his traction device thingy to keep his neck stiff, and re-cordinating his left side some. Drags his left foot a little and isnt so keen to use left arm etc. But we all feel he will get there its just a time thing.

Well gotta run! Thanks heaps for all the support guys, ill print this out at some stage soon and take it into him in hospital.

Regards.,

Awesome news Logo. Its amazing to seem someone recovering so quickly from a bad accident like that. Popped up once or twice but each time your bro was about to go to see the Neuro or whatever. (amazing the places my hospital swipe cards get me)

Stay cool till after school!

And Hi to Nod as well eh..

Sure is great to see him up and about, even if he's weak on his left side!!
Hes planning next bike already, but knows its three months before he gets his broken neck out of traction.

I questioned him yesterday to make sure it wasn't him that snuck out and nicked Milkys ZXR400 from just down the road! ( I reckon someone would have noticed the scaffolding round his head wasn't a regulation helmet!)

Anyone wanting to see him (or watch endless reruns of Ghostriders videos) Kurt is in Ward 81 Room 9 Auckland hospital. Nod and family

Hey guys sorry dont have any time right now - just got back from being down the line on work.

Kurt has as of yesterday moved to REHAB PLUS in Pt Chev.-Auckland. Im sure its okay for anyone to visit, the hours are between 11:00am and 8:30pm off the top of my head. Cant remember number of room etc, but they all know him just ask for him.

Unsure of how long he will be there, but i can assure you hes already well bored of it, and just wants to be home so he can work on bikes etc haha!

So i guess feel free to catch up with him if ya know him etc, otherwise post anything you want to go thru to him on here, still meaning to make a printout of it all, it will happen - just hasnt quite yet.
