The day before perfect skies great weather for a ride, the weather report on the news forcasted rain for the next day. I did not have to be in Rotorua until 11am so this gave my daughter time to finish her jobs at then shop before we set off.
The skies did not look too bad so did not throw on the wet weathers and headed off. Dry roads over the Rotoma's allowed for some passing of slower vechicles.:innocent: Round the great lake of Rotoma and caught up with some of the club members taking it easy, so fell in behind and joinjed the party. Soon a Harley pulled alongside another club member with a hearty wave and he too joined the procession to Rotorua. Traffic was heavy so just stayed with the flow giving space for some newer members to biking from the crush of vechicles trying to get ahead.

Lunch at the Lake Front Cafe always a great reception there. The owner was walking around giving out freebees like tee shirts and bottle openers to us old bikers. With such a welcome it is a place that one will head back to when passing through. 12.30pm and off to the meeting point for the start of the ride at 1pm. It seemed like more bikes this year not sure of the numbers, someone may know the total that turned up. Met up with a few KBrs which is always a pleasure. I spied not one of the new Kawasaki Concours but three of them. The owners were praising how great they are:first: Trikes certainly were a feature this year with many Goldwing conversions in attendance. There is a new guy doing conversions based at Cambridge "Trikes R Us" I don't know him just seen his trike. Best trike would have been the M109 just awesome to look at.

The parade headed off, this is always a buzz for me doing this ride. Such a long line of bikes streaching in both directions, would be awesome heading the otherway to see this spectacle. A slowish ride to Taupo through Reparoa down the Broadlands road. The skies withheld its moisture for the ride giving a fantastic unhinderd view of the countryside.

Once at Taupo we assembled at the Pool Complex waiting for the Cops to front who were supposed to lead us through the town, must of had some crims to chase as they did not show, plan B went into action. The parade headed off, up through the industrial estate to the Taupo Napier road then down the hill and right into Taupo. Along the waterfront and finally ending at the Great Lakes Conference Centre. Badges brought and into the hall for the Remembrance Service.

The Remembrance Book was piped in, the bagpipes certainly stir the soul. Wayne Painter led the service and read out the names of the members who have passed on. Its a time to reflect on the good times one have had with these past members at rallies and rides. The service over its time for me to head home, while many others stayed on to celebrate the lives of past friends at the do later that night.

The skies opened up for a short time over Taupo leaving wet roads to travel home on. I had the Harley for company on the way home. A good ride light traffic, followed a cage most of the way used him as a sweeper as he was going at a reasonable pace. Just out of Rotorua cages started to flash their lights at us and the car in front slowed to let us past. No sign for the flashing of lights until around a corner infront of some slower traffic was the reason heading the same way as us. He pulled over and turned his radar on to capture some of the revenue heading out of Rotorua that evening. All was good no dramas there, through Rotorua and off home.

Another enjoyable day out that I shared with my daughter, she loves being on the back and it is her handy work with the camera in the pix below while riding along.

Good post and pics Holy Roller - and good to meet ya @ Vegas. We stayed the night, awoke to heavy rain, but by 10am it was fine as and Go Gal and I had a great ride home to Tauranga.

Good photo of the down the hill shot - I was going to stop and take a pic here, but your Daughter clearly saved me the trouble!
