well i had an awesome start to my tour, left napier at 0830ish last saturday morning with robertydog and headed down to join the ashurst and palmy lot on their saturday morning rideout!
was a good ride there although a little fresh, was a good and very well organised run! well done peeps! how many bikes? 19 i think, chanceyy?
going through the gorge and over the saddle, the cafe stop was memorablemore for the poor staff than us i think lol, then we headed over the rimutukas (sp?) and what an awesome road!!! how many bendy bits???
i met some truly awesome people there! too many names to remember so to you all, watch out for me in the future as i will probably join you again soon!

handily the crew were passing the home (literally) of the wannabiker family in upper hut who very kindly put me up in their home for 2 nights so that i could have a look around wellington. so a big thanks Ross, Juliette and Mikey you are awesome!
it seemed silly not to gate crash the wellington rideout on sunday morning! again i met up with some good people, we started the rideout by going over the rimutukas (the opposite way to the way i first went over so it was a whole new road to me with lots of them luvly bendy bits in it)!
it was a windy day in welly for biking so quite a few people pulled out of the ride halfway through as they wernt comfortable, fair play to you. the three of us that carried on and had "the best fish & chips in welly" quoting nasty there:p enjoyed the roads along the sea getting there and back!
again, too many names to try and remember but was good to meet you all!
a special mention must go out here, and that is to Ross (wannabiker)! this very nice man read brave, stupid or both lol who on the way back from the rideout said "fancy swapping bikes?":gob: well who was i to say no to my first ever ride on a ducati, desmodue 900!!! :gob:it was awesome mate, huge thanks for that!
sorry but i have one more special mention, crasherfromwayback (pete) at wellington motorcycles, cheers mate! and you are right, the two brothers muffler does look and sound one helluva lot better than the old! you still need to convince me of the plans for the fireblade though! i am listening:yes:

leaving the good people of wellington behind i headed up and round the coast to new plymouth. how many cops on that road???
yet another KBer was mad enough to offer me a bed for the night (or three lol), cheers john (inlinefour) you are a star! people, trust me when i say this, watch where you park or keep an eye on your tyres:whistle::shutup:
erm, we kinda missed the new plymouth rideout so unfortunately no pics from new plymouth, but i do have some from whangamomona (sp? i cant say that let alone spell it lol). thanks kevin (Nadrog) for showing me the way there and for the awesome lunch!!! i think he was just making sure i left new plymouth but he denies this lol
i also managed to visit the grave of a president while in whangamomona!

and it was here that the batteries on my camara decided that they had had enough! bugger!
but any way i carried on up the forgotten highway and beyond and headed towards the waitomo caves aknd spent a day there, gracias amigos que tiernen la hierbas lo mas bueno! tiernes mucho suerte!
then i headed on over through bennydale towards taupo, before heading southwards down the west side of lake taupo. i stayed in turangi for the last 2 nights taking in a couple of rides on saturday (the weather was damn good compared to the couple of days before).
the saturday morning i was out of the door at 8am and headed out towards mananui on highway 41, turning towards raetihi on SH4, i found some amazing backroads accross to waiouru and headed back up SH1 to turangi. nice loop i thought. lots of good long sweepers and a few tighter bits here and there. ideal for someone who doesnt know the roads.
after a long lunch i decided on a shorter run so i headed out to whanganui national park and spent a couple of hours getting lost.
sunday? a day of rest and getting drunk:D and today i had an event free and boring ride home. am i glad im home? nope!
now all i need to do is clean one well and truly filthy bandit!:shit: 19ks of unsealed roads and a lot of rain doesnt help keep a bike clean, especially when i had to do a bit of off roading to avoid a coach full of kids on a day out overtaking on the wrong side of solid yellow lines!!!
