All,

Question about importing bikes. I get to the States on a regular basis for work. Looking at eBay a lot of the cruiser bikes seem to be considerably cheaper over there than back here in NZ. (Although this may change if the dollar keeps falling)

Reading the LTNZ website it seems fairly straight forward bringing one in - or am I missing something?

Has anyone here imported a bike personally? Is it worth it?

Chris

I was wondering about that too... (I head into TX semi regular).

I know the headlights point to the left instead of the right so a new reflactor unit's needed... but other than that?

What's involved?

I brought my Vespa with me when I moved out here, from memory it was a reasonably simple process. You need to have a MAF biosecurity etc check at the port of arrival (may be worth looking into getting your new bike steam cleaned etc before shipping), you will also need a receipt of some sort because you will be charged GST, on the total cost of bike and shipping.

Then it's a simple check to get it VIN'd onto the roads here I think.
