Hello chaps, halfway through putting my new front forks and headlight/indicators on. While I was fiddling around, this switch (goes into the brake lever perch, just under the master cylinder) came apart in my hands as I pulled the wires off. I put it back together for the photo, and it works most of the time, but obviously I need to get a new one.
Are they a commodity part? Where can I pick one up cheaply? My spare master cylinder/brake lever perch has a switch, but its off a Jap domestic market model and the whole system is completely different, there's not a switch like this.
Thanks.

Does it work when held together like in the pic?
If so the do the laminate / glue thing to hold it together.

<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>Yep, it works like that -- mostly -- now, even without being held together. I suspect it's been like that for some time, but I just nudged it and it pulled out.
To be honest, despite being a poor and cheap bastard, I'd be much happier just buying a new one if it was a small amount of money. It seems to be a bit fiddly, you can't see it but the innards are a bit bent too (this has happened before to a previous owner?) and I don't trust it.

I would phone a dealer who specializes in your brand of bike and price one through them. Just a thought. And if it's a Honda try Econohonda.

I had the same problem and they turned out not to make them any more. A wreckers was the only solution, but I clumsily BROKE the one I got from the wreckers within minutes of it being delivered, and nobody had any more.
So I went to Jaycar and bought a switch and some screws and bodged my own brake-light switch. Result!
Alternatively, look at your clutch lever switch, it may be the same, just switch them over and fix the clutch switch wires so the bike will start.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I was rather hoping somebody would say `oh yeah, you can buy those in packs of 40 for $5 at Smallcock Services'.
I'll give Econohonda a call, then. I've run up heaps of orders with them, nearly all for tiny little one-off things costing a few dollars  Good thing they know something about customer service and are too tactful to tell me off ;)
If the bike did have a clutch switch I'd swap it over, but the bike is too old to have one of those silly things. It's kick-start anyway -- you won't get far if you try to start it in gear, haha!

I got the same problem, I can't even turn on my headlights anymore D:
I'm gonna need a new switch block though, my old one is smashed to hell. The little button which changes from high beam to low beam fell out as my bike tumbled down the bank and landed upside down on some rocks :(
