Just remembered a joke lol
Ventriliquist sees a bloke in a farm yard and decides to play a prank ! Walks up and says, do you mind terribly if i have a chat to ya dog he says
The bloke looks at him funny and says yeah mate he's a dog, but go for it !
Guy then speaks to the dog and says hi there how are ya today dog ? Does your farmer master treat you well ?
Dog then replies, all good mate bit warm on it but all good, My master works me hard but treats me well !
farmers jaw drops and is dumbfonded !
ventriliquist then says, do ya mind if i chat to yr horse ? Farmer replies still with mouth wide open, ummmm sure !
So the guy looks at the horse and says Hi there horse, does your farmer treat you well and give you plenty of excercise !
The horse replies, yeah he's a good sort of bloke, rides me every day and tosses me plenty of hay !
Farmer's just totally gobsmacked by now and just stares in disbelief !
The ventriliquist then asks the farmer if its ok if he has a chat to his sheep !
Farmer leaps out of his chair, yells at the ventriliquist in a paniced voice, the bloody sheep is a liar !!!!

Careful about the guns quote with the army.
Had a school mate go into the army after leaving school, was in the infantry division, was there for 10 yrs or so,said if you called the rifle a gun you were marched up the middle of the barracks naked proclaiming, this is a gun this is a rifle, this one is for rooting, this one is for shooting. All the while holding said dick in hand.He did say the live firing was fun, especially when the odd sheep strayed into line while on manouveres, apparently they seem to disintegrate with heavy fire.

:buggerd:Ive embraced blouseness and fitted some Daytona Hot Grips tonight. Sunday night through the Desert Rd wasn't totally fun. Along with a lack of headlamp power the freezing fingers kinda dulled the usual enthusiam for carving up the countryside with the JadedBlade.
Now have toastie hands AND twin Phillips Vision Plus50 55/60W headlamps to play with on the way to work at 5am tomorrow morning.:2thumbsup
To complete the joy all I need is a good frost to freshen things up and provide plenty of exciting and welcome black ice on every highspeed apex.

$120 from PT's, Daytona brand, open ended as the CBR has shorter grips than normal and a gay bar end weight.
They have 4 packs of the closed ended ones and 1 more of the open ended ones.
Took 20mins to fit up the grips including wiring, soldered NOT crimped.
Feel pretty good, not too bulky or hard and they get nice and toasty within a minute.
After riding to work this morning and feeling the warmth flowing up my arms I'm proud to be a jesse.:bleh:

hahahaha I don't think the CBRxx is going to be easy to beat... Just beat up for it's colouring!!!!!
I'll bring the RF for sure, I hear they are good for carrying a decent load... Did you want me to carry a second engine so you can match ponies with the blackbird and RF???

In the late 90's, didn't the 1/4 mile drag stats go something like ZZR1100, ZX9R, CBR1100XX?

the standing quarter has alot to do with rider/grip/getting a good start. I dont mind doing a standing start but if you want to compare bike for bike it is easier to start from 50k. its not rocket science to twist the throttle and hold on. All in the name of penis power of course.

Well, for the past 3 hours I been in the shed with big bum RF....
Some research work was required. Ever since it was dropped off I noticed an erratic idle and akward riding at low speeds, was running rather rough untill she got up above 3000RPM...
I found out the the RF is renouned for wearing the needle jet due to the angle the carbs are mounted....
So, being the true boy I am, have only had the bike one week and apart she came....Under close inspection, I have some ovality coming in which is causing the rough running... Now, being the clever bastard I am I had two options of quick fix untill I can get onto the dealership on monday (waiting on the verdict so they can start repair action).
1. Drop the Jet needle down one knotch... or
2. Lower the float level by 1mm.
Now, here is the stink part, the carbs Suzuki used on the RF's are a non tamper carb for emission standards. There for dropping the Jet Needle was a no go as it only had one setting, and to adjust the float level the carbs would have to come right off... hhmm so what a pickle I was in..
I inspected the Jet Needle again and noticed a very small rather thin shim on the under side... I thought well, what can it hurt, I will need to eventually do a carb overhaul anyway so I removed the little shim which dropped the Jet Needle into the needle Jet by a small amount.
Ok, so with that done it was time to put her all back together and run her up... Right away the idle seemed smoother, not so erratic.. So on went the gear and away I went...
Results are ok, smoother riding at low rpm and a better idle.. She feels like all 4 a re firing round intersections not just 3..
There is still a little hiccup but not as bad...
So now the next move is to get onto the dealer for some sort of action, whether they can supply new parts to repair properly..
I am kind of hoping the way to go would be fit a set of factory pro emulsion tubes ( needle jets ) and while there I am hoping they might even supply a factory pro jet kit......
Anyway, thats how I spent my evening, how did the rest of you manawatu buggers spend yours????????

Some choice tracks alright, have walked Lake Dive in winter, around the Opunake side to Oanui and new hut Waiaua, have done return plateau to Dawson Falls walk. The scenery and wilderness on the tracks is great, and only about 10mins from Stratford, then maybe 1hr walk into silence.Like the smell you get in the bush after rain,as long as I'm not wet lol.

Top of Wiremu Rd -Kaweaora Rd area is great on a fine day.General area she farms.
Ask Al and Sarah how good the road is,we took Wiremu-Stratford/Opunake Rd to the falls first then went down to Manaia Rd to Kaponga, then along Eltham Rd to Opunake.First time I've been on those roads as well(late learner),a few rough bits but overall ok,still need to be weary of cows, trucks etc.

Hawera live, but work in Stratford. Will change soon.
Lived here most of my life, hadn't been to Whangamomona till I bought the bike, how bad is that, never even by car, closest had been was 10km from the pub lol.
Been to the pub 3 or 4 times now, taken 40+ years to do it,used to hunt and tramp in the surrounding area as a younga guy.
The road trip from NP to Hawera via coast is good, but also the route along Carrington Rd onto Wiremu Rd to Ihaia Rd to Opunake is a good one.
Only thing really about Taranaki is you generally go out and come back the same way, except doing the round the mountain.Ok you can go from Hawera along the Surf Highway upto Kaponga then along to Eltham/Stratford and home.

Unless ya head through over mt messanger through the awakino gorge and make a day of it coming home awww there would be a number of choices wouldn't there ? hehe some roads up there i've never been on let alone on a bike !
Used to detour through NP (well by pass it) just to avoid SH1 as it was getting to be a weekly ritual to be headed to auckland there at one stage !
It probably only adds an hour if that once ya know the road from here to auck or vice versa on a night run !

Yep SH3 to Auckland is fun,Mokau,Awakino areas are great from viewpoint of sea views and mountain views, and in my opinion much more pleasant than up the middle of the island.

Just thought I would let you know we are an Authorised Dynojet Tuning Centre and experienced in Dyno Tuning a wide range of bikes, including the current Formula National Champion, Glen Williams (Suzuki SV650), give us a call sometime and talk to the guys re Power Commander and dyno tuning, prices and advice etc, we would be happy to help.

Sounds like a great trip except for the animals.
You were lucky as I saw a couple of cop cars (parked)going to Stratford in the morning, and a few bikes as well on the road but none ticketed.
The pub justs begs to be visited, hope you remembered the passports, good fundraiser for local community, they should make the jar bigger on the bar.

anyone riding this coming weekend?

26th May 2008, 07:30
Weather permitting, next weekend (queen's B-day) i'll was thinking of taking a ride to Napier via Dannevirke, Porongahau, Wiapukarau and out the back way through to Havelock North, maybe have lunch somewhere (Clifton or Napier perhaps) while that's going on I need to catch up with R-Dog if he's going to be around and then back by whichever route.
Speak up if you're keen, join in the fun.
It won't be a time pressured ride other the the start time, key is to enjoy the ride.

Just heard from him, he's working thursday through to and including sunday.
I'm not sure but I don't think he has another bike yet unless he's staying super quiet about it. He did say that it would'nt bother him if he went bikeless though winter.

yep...looks like a decent size but not as big as I thought it might be - hard to say though, a fair bit of remodelling/renovating going on by the looks
their radio ad cracks me up - "city honda, we've got bikes for you" - but they dont say where they are or phone number or any useful info

Yeah, i'd say their ad's are a little premature.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with but I won't be switching shops anytime soon.

On a more disturbing note. Watch the diesel!! I just went for a slide coming home tonight turning into my street from the main road. Very very close to requiring a new paint job. Kept it off the road while managing to twist my leg in a way you only want to see from a blonde swedish gymnist.

Hey Nzsarge, yod, ect im just wondering where you guys tend to take your bikes (Who's the Best). I was doing quite a bit of my dealings through Freedom Honda but have found there new mechanic / (manager i think?) to be a bit of an arse and not very usefull. I have just started going to Phill Turnbull's about a month ago found them to be pretty good. I have not been in palmy that long so you guys would know better than me. Each to there own i know but your thoughts would be appreciated.
