View Full Version : Does your gear match?

Ok people, as the header states, does your gear match???

Do you wear textile jacket and pants, or leather jacket and pants??

Or do you mix and match, ie textile jacket/leather pants or vice versa?

I have a really nice textile jacket and looking for pants, but am looking toward leather pants. Or should I go with textile all round and look at getting a full set of leathers later on down the track????

How say you?

My gear doesn't match. Definitely not me to be seen with matching boots, helmet, gloves, jacket and pants. Depends how fashion concious you are I suppose. Each to thier own.:whocares:

Matching: Doesn't really matter, as long as you have the gear.

I've got matching Spidi jacket & pants - but only cause of the deal & that they work together. Also got a 17 year old leather jacket and some other stuff which gets mixed and matched around town - saves the good gear for decent blasts.

Well I have cordura pants, and a mix of jackets...Cordura for the rain (well actually I have a car for when it rains) and a couple of leather jackets. (Couldnt let the opportunity for the leather Ducati jacket go by) I thought I wanted leather pants....till I went and tried,(and tried, and tried) to get some on over my fat thighs!....so cordura pants it was. :scooter:

I have two leather jackets, one cordura jacket, two pairs of leather gloves one pair of leather boots and one pair of waterproof overtrousers.

I mix and mathch as I see fit depending on the weather.

I don't really think it matters as long as it's all colour coordinated.

<center><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/RomeoEskobar/repsol.jpg" alt="I bought all my gear when I bought my first bike!"></center>

That way, if you sell your Repsol Honda and buy ANY other make of bike, your leathers with still match!

The safest by far is leather!! A friend in ChCh has an article in a bike mag.. that did an abrasion test on leather, cordura, draggin jeans.. & I think also on normal jeans

They had a round coarse sanding disk on a drill & held it on the fabric for so long.. the results were very clear!! If you wanna keep your skin on ya bones.. wear leather!! :Punk:

Cordura with the built in armour is all very well.. but 1 bin & ya gear is rooted! :bye:

I'll get in touch with him to see if he can scan/email me the article & will try & put in up on here!

Jacket is leather but the pants are cordura. Both in black so that is a match - until I put on my orange glow vest thingy.

Black gloves and boots too.

Blue and white Helmet so thinking of coulour coordinatiting with a Blue & White theme just to get away from the traditional black on black on black.

Hey if money was no object I'm sure most of us would look like posing gits. However most of us are fiscally challanged from time to time, and items purchased separately. I think most people try and stick to a basic colour scheme, however others are quite happy as long at the gear does what it's supposed to.

I've got a white leather jacket, cordura black jacket (1st purchase before got the leather one for Xmas), black cordula pants, white helmet, also have as spare helmet (white, blue and grey design), black boots, black gloves.

I'd like to be a bit slimmer and get a one piece one day, guess I'll have to start exercising and watching what I eat - darn it! Oh and get a windfall of cash for the one piece.

I have Grey/White Spool 1 piece so it goes with anything.

I also have a Rocket Jacket, Red/White with a smattering of silver with black leather trousers. The jacket goes well woth the Patriot Graphic Shoei.

But going naked is the best co-ordination and when you get sun burnt is goes well with a red bike!!

Whatever sinks your boat brother.

My bike is black but I don't really dig black riding gear but mostly my rain gear is in black as it just happens to be the most popular colour on the market.

But my favourite colour is blue, so I have a blue helmet, a blue textile jacket and blue gloves.

Look, it's a personal choice.

Having matching gear isn't gonna make you a better rider.

Plus, it's really women and metrosexuals that are into matching panties and bras.

(not that it's a bad thing)

I wouldn't wear anything but a leather jacket but I'm just an old-school type. Jeans and sometimes some woolies and tour with wets in the saddle bags or strap em to the back seat for short trips in dodgey weather.

I must admit I've been looking at leather pants but can't handle the Benny Hill squeaking that goes with them. (Ever seen him in leather? Funny-as....)

I know leather is heavy and hot in summer but it's protection for my elbow skin, which matches my ball bag skin so I don't want it damaged.

well the gear I have is isnt the most expensive, however hopefully it will save me a few layers of skin if i happen to can off.

HJC helmet
Mobig camo pants and jacket
RJAY's boots
No Frills leather gloves

Just an end rant here. I have had no end of troubles with my Mobig camo pants, Im on to my third pair now in only 2 months. The stitching comes apart around the pockets and the thigh seems. They are having issues with this. It looks like my lastest pant is starting to do the same thing after just one ride in them
So word of advice, stear clear of the mobig camo pants, however the camo jacket is great

Black pants, Rjay's synthetic wet weather overpants. Usually over jeans.
Brown jacket, Drizabone Arno bomber style- people said I'd be cold but with a woolen jersey underneath I've been fine so far.
Black shoes, steelcap safety shoes, not boots- looking for a good pair of boots though. Cheap.
Black helmet, Nitro brand- looks quite good, full helmet with clear visor.
Black GN250- that has issues and conked out on the motorway on a spaghetti junction overbridge this morning :'(

Well couldn't resist this

I have a gorgeous blue Daytona and I am a woman and an ex pom. Therefore had to explore the Triumph, blue and UK stuff.
Have a great Triumph retro jacket, blue and black with my birthday on the back (luck) second one of the same actually:love:
Very soft and very strong, only little complaint is that is doesn't have an aluminium liner like the boys jacket. Trousers are black and BKS, best leathers in the world, so comfortable and got them secondhand for 40 quid.

Also have a red and black Spyde jacket which I wear on the red and black CB750F (accidental didn't really want red and black).

Gloves - black revit and blue triumph

Helmet - Red and Black and white HJC - now just for the Honda

Shoei XR1000 Patriot - just got this and tried it out on the way back from Roturua yesterday. I am so in  It is light, v comfortable and only a little wind noise which I reckon will go with the whisper kit. Have pin locks for winter and tinted visors. Love the graphics too, better in the flesh than online so I am stoked :2thumbsup:

Have a spare medium to sell. Want about $950 for it. Still in box. They are no longer made so only few left available. Took me ages to find these. Lots of websites list them but none in stock. Definately none in NZ.

I agree doesn't make me a better rider but when you look smart it accentuates a beautiful bike rather than detracting from it.

Plus, it's really women and metrosexuals that are into matching panties and bras.
(not that it's a bad thing)
Yes, I do have union jack underwear too:lol: Got it for a laugh but actually it is really comfortable and what is wrong with celebrating a great make of bike.

I am after an Opinion (or two)!

I am not wearing anything that matches at the moment.
Helmet - Kawasaki Green with "sparkles" (that's what a work mate called it)
Jacket - Mainly Black with some red and white branding
Pants - Black
Gloves - Red
Boots - Black
Bike - Blue/Purple

Does any one thing this is a really odd lot of clothing to wear, with nothing really matching. I have been thinking of changing the helmet because it stands out. Or should I keep it because it is very visible and may save my life one day?

Textile Mobig pants that need upgrading, a Quasimoto leather jacket that I would sleep in if the missus would let me, RJays gloves and Sidi boots. Although the boots are in awesome condition I wanna flick em off as they are a bit tight.

No big deal to me if I have gear that dosen't match.
