I have a tank some one has sealed with crappy wite shit over the rust. The paint job is too good to walk away from and the tank is very solid, but no mater how much i flush it rust and flakes of paint keep comming out.

A POR 15 tank sealer kit would be the way to go but how to get rid of the old sealer crap?? phosphoric acid won't get it off.

Anyone got any ideas ??

How about some shingle (small pebbles like they use for highway grit perhaps) and some water sloshed around inside for a few times. Wont get rid of it all but will remove the loose stuff.

<hints id="hah_hints"></hints>That's what I thought -- if the shitty tank sealer is peeling off anyway into your fuel, try and accelerate the process to get rid of the really loose stuff. The new sealant will bond to the old sealant, won't it? Then you can just cover the lot.

Take it to a paint shop or similar, get them to grit blast it inside and then seal it, should cost about $50, and take an hour tops.
