Well. I'd just observe that the female sense of humour is definitly different from male sense of humour. I got an email from a female friend I thought was really funny, and it made me laugh, but every guy I showed it to just wrinkled their nose and said ugh, that's not funny. Like guys have great sense of humour and I love their jokes and all, but women also have their own kind of humour. :D

The point of difference is what makes it so interesting.

And women ride differently from guys. Not better, not worse, not the same =

just differently. I've watched (flag marshall) a fair few circuits now, and women race more strategically.

:p Bugger the hairdryer, go for a ride. !!!

And while I'm in the mood to bitch, it's not always a positive experience belonging to a minority within a minority. As if being a motorcyclist wasn't already a social passport to being a non-conforming weirdo and probably dangerous as well, being a female motorcyclist is viewed as being so far off the page it isn't anywhere in the book.

I get really hacked off at being typecast , or labelled or "maybe she's strange somehow" judgements from narrow little people who don't know what the hell they're judging. They don't ride. They don't know how. No-one ever taught them. They never found out for themselves. And they have the bloody nerve to assume all sorts of things about me because I do ride and love it.

And that's only the non - riders. :(

Some riders have chauvanistic attitudes too, although the majority are open-minded and accepting. I've met and endured blokes who think that women ride motorcycles only because they want to meet a man, (or lots of men) or that you want to look tough, or prove that you're as good as a man, or have some ulterior motive somewhere.

The fact that you ride because you want to, for its own sake, shoots right past them.

Ah BabyB I like the way you think!!!

The most common one I get Bestfun is I must be gay (Bitch's on bikes thing) Sometimes that can be a HUGE advantage, Some 'wanker' bloke comes up and voices his mear opinion about chicks on bikes being butch, just lower your voice a couple of octives and tell him to fuk off or you'll break his nose :D

At least he isn't going to come onto you lol

BabyB are you coming down to Taupo Aug 10th for the last round?? Would be really good to see you there chick!!!

hey there best fun, i like your comment about girls riding differently to men.

i'm lucky enough to ride with a group that includes 2 other chicks, and another 2 who come along when their boys let them have the bikes LOL.

but i went for a ride with a guy-only group the other day, and i don't think i'll be asked back again.....i was too slow, as my objective is to get home in more or less the same state as i left; the boys seem to have a whole different idea!

speed is one thing, but i like to be objective about when i use it - ie appropriate to the conditions/surroundings....i think i'll stick with my usual group! LOL

Hey Girlies,

Boys should get over themselves if they think it is all wrong to see a chick on a bike.

Hope the weather picks up for this weekend. I will head down to Puke for a look on Saturday if it does so might see some of you there.

Over and out

Oh , they love to see a chick on a bike..... hehehe .....Like the porno star Spankme snapped on the back of the Hardley - chilly chested and still smiling...

BTW - Are those girls very crazy, very clever, or what?

And they're so skinny, where do they put their dinners?

Hiya mv.senna, Yeah I've had a very similar experience, and came to much the same conclusion.

I'm getting more singular than ever these days.

The guys are too fast, the young 'uns are too fast, some women riders are newbies or returnees and too slow, some guys (usually on GoldWings) are too slow.

There's no one to ride with. WAILS PITEOUSLY lol

Re: Women's racing in NZ

I could be mistaken about it, but I've never seen a race in N Z just for

women's class. Maybe in off-road, but track ??????

Yeah, OK there's not many women racing.. A fact. But would there be more,

if there were women's classes?

OR, would women racers prefer to be in the men's class, so's to know the pace required to stay with the front runners?

My own opinion is that if I was racing, I'd prefer to be in a mixed men/women class. It'd be more satisfying to achieve against a mixed group. Even if you win consistently in a women's class, you'd still want to test yourself against the front runners in the men's class. What happens overseas where there's more women racers? Anyone know?

Any comments from those who do race?

I've only just noticed this forum, :o but had to snigger when I noticed that it only had 2 threads running, and not too many replies.

Those guys reckon we flap our jaws too much, and we appear to have proved them wrong! :D

I've always ridden with guys, with the odd other girl along too, but I've been riding solo for too many years now and find the riding-with-a-group experience not all that I remember. I recall doing a Boyd Honda ride round the lower Waikato a couple of summers ago and finding myself somewhere in the middle of the very spread out group, pretty much riding on my own.

I don't care what other people think, and have had no problems talking to other stray motorcyclists I meet during my nicotine stops, but that could just be my own forwardness. I find a smile as you take off your lid, and a comment about the day and/or the ride are enough to start conversation with any other biker. :)

  I agree. I do the same. :D

Perhaps it's the social club thing that generates uncomfortable nuances ?

Yeah this is a crappy sub-section of the site. Mostly talking to myself and its all negative shit. I wondered why SpankMe wanted a women-only thread. Maybe kinda voyeuristic concept ? But it's gasping for life at the moment.

Women's stuff is so not cool just now. We're supposed to not need or want any separate anything these days.

We were thinking aloud about why would anyone want one, weren't we?

Hey SpankMe, can you grant us a few other wishes ? Just as quickly ?

Hmmm, what shall we ask for ? What model, size, colour and make?

Hi Everyone - I'm a newby to this website so please be kind
:o

I have read your thoughts - and they are quite interesting.

I race a sidecar and I'm the only female that rides one in NZ - my mother passengers for my father. So if our class had a race for women only - I would be sitting on the track with no passenger or anyone else to race with.

I also ride a Kawasaki ZX9R on the road. I must admit I get the sniggers and comments when I take my helmet off as well. Normally I just smile and the guys who have said comments or done the staring just get embarrased and look the other way.

My best one every was this morning - this guy was on his ZZR1100 getting his warrant done, the guy doing the testing just talked bout weather and blah blah blah - then testing guy came over to me and had the nerve to tell me that my bike was far to big for a pretty girl like me and that no man would ever be able to compete. I looked at this old fart and thought God what can I say - so quickly on my feet (as I normally am) I said to him - hey if there's a guy out there that doesn't feel threated (like you do) with me riding this then that's the one for me. He just stood there like a gimp. What a nerve to tell me that - I bet the guy with ZZR never got any comment like that. :angry2:

Enough of that - I hope I can get to know some of you online and by the way - who lives in the South Island?? I ride with a group called Babes On Bikes - its totally cruisy, no fees, rules or anything just a bunch of chicks that get together every now and then and do rallies and drinkies at cafes. Talk about guys and bikes and the likes.

:) :D  :niceone: :2thumbsup :p :done:

So imagine the sniggers when you tried to explain to a prospective partner your trying to find a swinger for the weekend. lol
All humour aside you must just be hanging in the wrong circles. I have heard the occasional snigger but its ussualy directed at me. And the women always beat me back. If people don't treat you fairly don't treat them fairly.

In Australia they have apparently run some very succesful woman only race days, thread and arguements about it here
http://www.mcnews.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=403

However they do have a far larger population base, while I think as an introduction to the sport it is a good idea I don' think there are enough women competing for it to be a viable idea.

Yea that at about says it all. That we have one thing in common is all that is needed. As for woman riding to slow I would sooner have that than one that rides too fast...........and looses it.

I read somewhere that the fastest growing bike sales are for woman riders. I think it was to do witha the sports bike market.

Hey Gals,
Maybe us chicks are too busy out riding to post but, I'd love to chat with a few more of you. :wavey: I've only met Lynda and she is great but it would be cool to hear from a few others.

I'm just a new rider (as well as a recently binned rider :confused2) and maybe I haven't been riding long enough to have encountered some of the crap you girls have had thrown at ya by some, out of date dorkus compensating for being limited in other areas, however I really admire you all and hope that I can be just as much of a capable rider when I get back on my little beast.

I've only ridden with boys so far & they've been great, no problems at all, they simply treat me like another rider. I'd like to go out with a few women though b/c chicks on bikes rock!! :Punk: We do!

Had been Marshelling a 2-dayer at Puke and was having a few drinks with some of the riders at the end of the first day. Over heard a guy saying you had to have balls to ride the superbikes. I had been watching the racing all day. There was only one woman racing in the superbike class but she had been racing well and hard all day. I dryly turned to the "dick" who had made the "balls" comment and told him that the woman racing in the superbike class had f*cken big balls, but had only had a bad case of tank slap (shifting her "balls" into her chest). We all laughed and he didn't put women bikers down after that.

In my bike club we have also recently voted in a women for the job of club pressy. One male has had to be told that if he cann't handle that, then he can find a new club to belong. He couldn't haddle riding behind a women (just another stupid "dick").

Like horse riding (the only Olympic sport to have women and men competing against each other) there is no physical advantage with sex when it comes to competing on bikes. The soon some men (and a few women as well) get that in to their heads the better. It is good to have sports where men and women can compete as equals. Bring it on.

I agree RiderInBlack, let the riding skill of the riderspeak for itself rather than the sex of the rider.... Those "dicks" are probably jealous of the female riders being better than them, i know there are better female riders than me, so.... who cares, i hope i can learn something from them...

I have an A4 size picture of my bike on my wall at work. I get a few comments - "Is that your bike" from guys and girls as well. I always get positive feedback. The other day a young trendy guy asked the question and of course I proudly said yes it is and he was soo impressed that an older uncool chick like me could have such a cool bike - made my day. The girls always say good on you.
I get a few comments from non riders about how I keep it upright!! They don't seem to understand that I don't actually have to lift the 200 odd kgs, I just say I wouldn't be able to lift it but it is nicely balanced on the road and a joy to ride!

I rode with a club once and I got told I didn't ride like a "girl". I took it as a compliment at the time. I had a slight advantage that day, I knew the road well - very well - and there were no twisties, so i was riding fast out in front most of the way to the first pit stop!!! I am fast on the higway and slow on the hills - hate going downhill!

Rode to the Toy Run with a group with one girl she rode well, a bit slow but within the upper speed limit and to her ability, she has only been riding a couple of years. It was good to slow down for a change a give a bit of support that was appreciated. Saw more of the countryside and really enjoyed the ride but going home had to have a blast up the Kaimai's then waited for her to catch up only half a min or so. Those who want to play in their own sand pit are welcome to do so. :) For me and some others, life is to enjoy, how we see fit. Not always at full throttle.

If any of you girls want someone to ride with(in auck) you're more than welcome, just send Draco a pm and she'll tell you how to get in touch :)
