Lifan 250 'V' twin Virago copy. carb trouble

My Fat wheeled Red Zeppelin middy chopers doing daft things,,,, It misires? the front plug seems starved of gas, the back pot is flooding somthing cronic. it has a wiered vacume carb on it, the original bikes had a diaophram assisted petrol tap with a vacume pipe attached. on my build up i used a standard petrol tap, if i leave the gas on it floods. the needle valve is good. its brand new as is the carb, anyone got any info on float levels on this carb?, cant understand why the back pot floods all the time? the engine sitting level?

I think youl find your problem is that all liffan bikes are pieces of crap, the problem can easily be fixed by ripping that chinese junk engine out and replacing it with some japanese reliability

The Distributor should be sorting this issue out for you in all honesty...

Rule of thumb with carburettor float levels is that they are perpendicular to the carburettor body...

You're probably more likely to find a bit of swarf or some such thing has come away from the bowels of the carb & is holding the needle off its seat, it sure as hell wouldn't be the first time as they (the carbs) are not the most precision made instrument on the planet...

A strip & inspection of the leaking carb will no doubt reveal a multitude of sins :laugh:

Again, this could constitute some type of warranty claim with the distributor so you're best course of action is to get the thing into your nearest dealer & have them take a look
