Houston, Tranquililty Base here. The Hornet - Charlie Bravo Nine Zero Zero has landed.
VStrom's new owner arrived from Tauranga this afternoon, I picked him up at the airport and he is very happy with my - now his - VStrom.
Shortly afterwards I collected my Hornet from Motomart and the smile is ...well you all know:rolleyes::apint::apint::cool::rolleyes: [couldn't resist the Alpinestars too]
DateLine 12 May 2006:
The new GN250 was delivered in Stokes Vegas tonight at 1721hrs by Wellington Motor Cycle Centre.
Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.
That's one small step for BuckBuck but one giant leap for a whole lot of pleasure.
Look forward to catching up with you all when I build up my skills and confidence.
Heads Up and Enjoy:rolleyes::apint::apint::cool::rolleyes:

Great to hear your strom has gone to a new owner. Sorry to see you are lost to the great wide world of stromdom.
Enjoy the new bike, will you take the sleeping bag out and snooze in the garage like I did? Cheers.:shit:

Great to hear your strom has gone to a new owner.
Victor Sierra Tango Romeo Oscar Mike - VStrom has gone to an enthusiast. When driving him from the airport I talked about Mike Hyde, author of 'Twisted Throttle' and his journey around Australia on a Strom 1000. Turns out this guy is a real enthusiast, back in the early 80's he rode an XR250 from Melbourne to Adelaide, Alice Springs across Queensland to Cooktown and then back to Melbourne.
He looked like the cat that got the cream this afternoon when he rode away on the VStrom. I was very pleased VStrom has gone to a good home.

Well done Guy! Congratulations mate. We'll have to watch out for you and Mrs Kendog though...we might mistake you both for double vision! Eeek!! Two Trudis...what a thought!
Anyway, I digress....Enjoy the black beast...are you a bling man?
And pay no attention to those on here that will say "yawn...it's a Honda"

I have sat and read this post several times:
Me and Mrs Kendog - well I suppose Nigel may have something to say about that.
Double Vision - Trudi of course is the lovely one, I am just the old fart.
Two Trudis, nah mate one sheila and an aussie [in the nicest possible way of course.]
The black beast - stevedee the brother in law is besotted.... with the bike.
Bling man - now to be honest I don't know how to answer that nor should I, be damned if I do, be damned if I don't - 'I'll take whatever bling I can get,' [Nigel you understand don't you?]
Yawn it's a Honda - They can yawn all they like but I am just getting Fonda of my bike, and .....no don't go there.
Heads Up and Enjoy
[Just had to PM this link to Nigel]

That Hornet and you look like a natural match! I will have to come down to Wellywood again just so I can see it in person (I think I am this school holidays, but I am driving my parents down in the cage! :weep:)
Once again, congrats on joining the swarm! Bzzzt! And knowing what Hornets can do to their owners, what bling will you be decking out your steed of freedom with? :innocent:  :msn-wink:

Yeah nice bike there Guy - well done.
Exactly the same as my father-in-law's one, except he's got renthal bars on his as he didn't like the originals.
How's the neck with the bars you've got on there? I guess the ride will tell tomorrow.
I'd love to come along, but the bike's in the shop on Monday to get the valves adjusted.

Talking of Hornets... here's the new 600.
Hmmmm - ABS sensors. Seems a little over the top. Mind you, they could be used for traction control - which also seems a little over the top.
Nice bike though. They've done a good job at hiding how enormous the exhaust is - Euro 3 must be a tough nut to crack.

The Givi screen and Oggy Knobbs were fitted today. Odometer is now reading 2300km.
Biggles1 and I had a great ride up SH1 then across to Palmerston North, Pahiatua Track and through Mangamaire, great road there must say, and back down over the Rimutaka Hill.

Thats some pretty impressive ks in such a short time. I was happy with the 370 I did in the past week but 2300 in 3 weeks is a huge amount:scooter:

Thanks Merv. Got a Honda blank key and cut, waiting to get the chip coded.

Handling very well indeed. Have enjoyed revisiting the circuit here in Stokes Valley and going over old routines: the Hornet is very manageable at slow, slow manoeuvring. The most impressive thing I have found is the very smooth gearing very linear as you move up through the gears and very good in cbd traffic.

A good run up to Palmerston North yesterday, and an excellent ride back through Mangamaire, saw 320 km on the clock.

Hows the back?
Good suggestion - Pop up on the 22nd or 23rd and watch the races... Your love em and its not a massive ride (Manfield that is/No entry fee.)

I see mention in this thread of bling.
I still have the CRG levers off my late lamented Hornet, along with a Power Commander unit. I am not planning on starting a collection, so these are for sale.
The Ohlins shock morphed into a new unit for the VFR so that's gone.
