Hi All Manukau City / South Auckland Bikers
Justs a quick plug for my good freind and CEO of Motorcycling New Zealand
Paul Pavletich. Paul has put himself up for the Manukau city Mayoralty.
Paul Pavletitch the CEO of MNZ is a very Close personal freind of mine He took the Job at Mnz Because he is passonate about motor cycles and has a genuine inerest in ensuring that all who ride motorcycles can continue to do so with the minimum of regulation somtimes that means you have to cover your bases but this is done so that the general public only see us in a good light we both have riden motorcycles since we were 15 years old and Paul has raced bikes succesfully winning many Auckland and National Titles aswell as winning the castrol 2 hour and 6 hour events. Before taking on the Job at MNZ Paul was operations Manager At the largest Food beverage liquor and tobacco Distribution company in New Zealand Covering branches in Whangerai Auckland Hamilton Tauranga Rotorua and Gisbourn. All of this managment experience will be of great benefit to any city manager.
So I am asking for all of us south Auckland bikers to support and vote for Paul Pavletich for Mayor of Manukau City

If you're seeking support publicly for a local government candidate, irrespective of how well you may know them, you should familiarise yourself with the law on this matter, as you may be breaking it by advertising a candidate without the candidate's formal endorsement.

Arrive late and groan away. Read the link about what the law says. It may be an ass, but it's still the law. "Having a plug" for one's mates is still electioneering.

I laughed when I first read Hitchers post... but then remember this, KB was mentioned in parliament in March, so what is said here obviously does get noticed by the Big Wide World...
It may be worth reading the link and ensuring compliance, we all know how petty politics (and politicians!) can be...

Worst case scenario is that a successful candidate could have their win challenged, with all of the angst that goes around this.
Any candidate endorsements need to be authorised by the person being endorsed.

To be all legal you gotta add the vital caveat; "If this breaks any election laws you can suck on my salty ham-flavoured balls, muthaf&%ka."
But seriously, you gotta get permission and quote it.
EDIT: Oh, Nah, I'm wrong, the candidate for Central Otago has explained it just below.

The Local Electoral Act 2001 does allow for public comments without the candidate'a approval.
Section 113 (5)
This section does not restrict the publication of any news or comments relating to an election in a newspaper or other periodical, or on the internet, or in any other medium of electronic communication accessible by the public, ........
Basically if anyone wishes to comment, or say vote for XXXX, or don't vote for YYYY, then that is OK. However if it is a paid advertisement or a poster, then it must be authorised.
