I still dont have a bike yet and its driving me nuts, absolute bonkers, so if you go out today think of me being at home bikeless:crybaby:
Have fun guys and ride safe!

There was a bike show!? Damn damn damn damn.
I woke up in someone elses bed with her long gone to work, road home on the bike, then road to the local mall to buy some wood glue then got a text from the lady saying she left her lights on so I road all the way to the other end of town (right by Anzac drive actually) and ring the AA guy and got her jump started, then road all the way home and now I'm giggling at linux for not having a bike still haha :P
I hope tomorrow is as nice as Chromed Knuckles has a gathering and ride on.

Glorious day.
Mrs Oakie followed me on her 250 Eliminator up the Port Hills to the 'Sign of the Takahe/Kiwi' (whichever) from the Christchurch side. This was the first time she'd tackled that piece of road from the city side. Went up slow but steady and safe using good lines and with no dramas except for holding up a GSXsomthingorother for a short time. Got to the top to find a set of traffic lights at the crest and road works on the other side. The light was red and looked like it would be for several minutes so we turned around and came back down again. Slow and safe she came back down behind me again ... so safe infact that at one stage she was passed by a guy on a push bike! :eek5: To be fair he was on a pretty flash looking bike and was really motoring thru a set of 35kph twisties.
After we'd finished the descent she pulled me over and asking if we could go to Lyttleton next because 'her bike' needed to go fast for a while.
On the way back from there (going down the motorway) I was following her while some grey haired old fella in a maroon Primera tail-gated me for a couple of minutes. I tried to get him to back off but he finished up pulling out with traffic coming the other way and passed us both, missing Mrs Oakie by a couple of metres as he pulled back in to avoid the oncoming traffic. In a move that couldn't have been choreographed better, we both gave him the same 'cheery wave' of the single digit variety in his rear vision mirror at exactly the same time. (That's what being married for 25 years does for you).
Following that we went to Cafe Metro on the road to Sumner for a coffee (that finished up being a Heineken instead) and then toodled happily home.
Great afternoon and Mrs Oakie has another 71 km experience under her wheels.

I used to live up by the Takahe.. them bicyclist are crazy.
What type of Eliminator does Mrs Oakie have? One like this (cruiser style): http://www.motorbikes.be/en/Kawasaki_EL_250_Eliminator_V_2006.aspx
If it's a cruiser would she be interested in joining up for some CK rides? She wouldn't be the only female or person on a 250!

No. Her bike is pretty much like this one ... but is black. (It's a parallel twin instead of a V twin) http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/020841/ It is a cruiser style without the chrome and with a bikini fairing.
I'll pass the offer on to her. She'll have Saturday afternoons all to herself from October on (I play cricket) so she may be interested in the odd ride.

With the weather playing so nice lately, I figured it was time to spark up the bike this weekend, and get the puncture in the rear sorted that I picked up before I packed it away for the winter break(July & August)
So yesterday I chuck the key in, go to spark her up - no joy, just turned over.
I figured the battery had lost some charge over winter, so today I pulled the fuses and attached the trickle charger, gave it a hour and then re-tried. Still no joy, so I checked all the fuses and relays, earths, etc. All good there, I'd run the battery flat turning it over again. So back on charge it went.
Much later on, something sprung to mind, went outside, jumped on the bike and stood it up, got a weak moan of noise as the fuel pump primed with fuel - that'll teach me for tucking it away when it's almost out of fuel! :innocent: Sparked up first try once there was something other than air in the carbs...

Cracking weather all weekend, took the gsxr750 out to diamond harbor. Saw dozens of bikers out from an L plate GN250 to a gang of harley/cruisers to a pack of sports bike riders and some 2-up on a BMW I think. Hell even a vespa scooter gang pulled up in numbers at diamond harbor as I was leaving. Surely some KB'ers amongst them.
Saw another old oil cooled gixxer which was sweet, barely see them at all these days, gave him a wave. :niceone:
Nobody seemed to be doing anything overly stupid, although some fellow on his cruiser smartly rearranged his line around a corner back into his lane when he found me oncoming!
Hope everyone had an awesome day with no offs, I sure did! :woohoo:

nah love that bit of road, hard work tho, very testing
actually had a nice blat today, altho was feeling a bit wary on the Buell after spending so much time on the race bikes... and theres all these fkrs on the road trying to run you over!
Not to mention the retards in the pushbike race WTF was going on there??? See a bike race sign on the side of the road, think.. Ok slow down a bit even tho its 100km zone, down to 50kms or so, with a van and a car and Dangerous in front of me. Suddenly there is a van on our side of the road yelling at us to get off the road... EXCUSE ME but who the fuck are you to almost run us down?? ...after him was about 30 cyclists , with a fair number on our side of the road as well.
I guess the bloke on the side of the road leaning on his sign before we got the van trying to run us down, was maybe meant to STOP THE FKN TRAFFIC GOING THRU AND FORGOT???????
fks sake, if you are having a race on an open public road i suggest you get someone with a brain to hold your signs, otherwise pay up for a closed road like the rest of us do when we race at the track or piss off our OPEN PUBLIC roads.
very lucky not to have a repeat of the Le Race fatality, with a couple of motorcyclsits thrown in for good measure today

I would have to agree with you....Not having A bike sucks big time, especially on corker days like today! Yeah MrsB decided that I could spend about $3K on another bike. I've really been missing the road, and its having an effect on me, so she decided I should get a road bike. problem is, with 2 race bikes, a $3k POS would be just that- a POS money pit. Better to put some of that money into the Monster, where the extra development $$$ would pay off at the track and on the road. The wee 750 Monster would be a bit underwhelming on the road, but then I guess that will keep me out of trouble:innocent:

They shouldn't have had a bloody road race mapped out that it crossed a main rd like that anyhow especially there at Tai Tapu, there's plenty of bloody back roads to choose from in the area that would have kept them well away from any traffic.

Testing yeah, I remember first time up the hills ever on a bike, my RG150 following some friends at 10pm down that road with bloody 20w bulbs on high beam (I've seen pushbike lights stronger!), packing myself on a few corners talk about trial by fire!!
Today I was enjoying it pretty thoroughly, and the first half up till the cattle stop and cliff side drive was great - but a wee way into the last section I saw a white cross on the edge next to the drop and decided to take it a wee bit more careful. The camber on some of those corners is crazy, and the saggy wet noodle excuse for a shock at the rear of my 750 wanted to toss me off at the first chance of trouble. :sweatdrop

Nah isn't on KB.
Wasn't meaning in the sense you're thinking, more the fact his riding style & a cruiser are a clash. We've covered more kms together than I care to remember and between us had enough bikes to start a couple of shops, and I know as he does too that cruisers aren't in his blood.
The only reason he got the meanie in the 1st place was because he missed buying a SP1 Colin Edwards replica & bring that back with him from England:niceone:
