These are the photos from the JCOG (<i>Japanese Classic Owners Group - Christchurch</i>) run for August. A quick blat out to the Greta Valley then to the Waikari pub for lunch and a brew.

If you've got a pre-1980 Japanese bike (or classic ;P) and you're interested in joining us, keep an eye on the KiwiBiker calendar for our September run - probably the Fourth Sunday.

sooo, my 82 turbo is out???? You're more than welcome, it's entirely up to you whether or not you can justify ferry trip and 5 hour ride down though ;P.

A few of the bikes shown bring back memories from living and riding in the Christchurch area (rode there from 1968 to 1995.)

I had an S2 Kawasaki for a while (went well but drank gas like there was no tomorrow.) Looks like a Yamah R5 in there too (I had a DS7 and and R5, nice bikes.)

The "Blue Tank" Mach 1 Kawasaki bring back memories of punting a mates one around the old Ruapuna track about 1973-74. I got three laps and just ran out of brakes.

The CB750 looks very nice. It was a toss up between one of those and a Yamaha TX650 at the time. Bought the Yamaha and learnt to love the handling (?)

I would really love to find a Yamaha YDS3 to restore, so if anybody knows of one for sale, please pm me.

Thanks for sharing Guys and congrats on the awesome examples shown!
As a former Waterbus and CB750 owner, as well as 500/4 and 750/4 Super Sport, the pics brought a big smile to the dial!

I'm pretty sure I spotted the blue 500/4 (or is it a 550/4?) in commuting traffic while cutting thru Christchurch on the dash South on the Southern Cross. It made my day!!

My hats off to you Guys!

I must get around to doing the South Island sometime

That's my intention too. Wife & I have talked for years about doing the SI on the bikes.

That trip currently seems further away than ever.....
