Went over the Takas about 9.30 (really windy). We went straight up the main road and out on the Castlepoint Road to Tinui and stopped at the cafe there for a cup of tea, then went out on the Tinui to Alfredton Road - nice ride through there (they have been through with the big hedge trimmer and chopped the trees back at both sides of the road, so the road was reasonaby dry). From Alfredton south to Daggs Road (not for the faint hearted - really deep gravel in parts) and came back down to Masterton. Had lunch at the picnic table at Henley Park and went back out on the Castlepoint Road to Tauweru Road which comes out at the corner past the Wainuioru Hall (just before the big straight).
Then went out on the the Stronvar Road (there's 12k of gravel past the end of the tarseal) to Ngahape Road where the road finishes. Nice scenery out that way. They have been doing a lot of logging through there though. Then back to Wainuioru, Gladstone and then home back down the main road (all up 400k).
