Well we now own a new ZX14
The guys down at Bay City Motorcycles here in Tauranga gave an awesome trade in price on the RSVR so it had to be done.
Naturally it's BLACK with a lovely set of Two Brothers carbon cans, dark tinted double bubble screen, smoked indicator lenses, -1 tooth front sprocket, fender eliminator, and a couple of other wee things thrown in
Swap over happens tomorrow :niceone:

Im very excited my new bike will be ready today. It all came about when I realised I will be doing around 70,000kms commuting over the next three years as I continue to travel to Whangarei to see my boy on a regular basis. I was getting uncomfortable on the Prilly (Much as I adore that bike its beautiful to ride) and it seemed such a waste to do all those Kms on the Prilly. I guess I have to stop running these 'What If...' senario's past DMNTD one, cause this is what happens.
I said, I should be on a touring bike, one that will eat up those sort of Kms, and where I wont get sore from the long night rides.
There you go then, my ride is now a ZX14 :shit: Its going to be very interesting next time I do the Coro ride. So come on you 14 riders, whats your opinions, tight stuff etc

Well Chris, congrats again. Tell me, why you gonna have to give up the duke? Surely it wasn't that badly damaged when she went down?
Nah the Superduke's damage is only superficial....cans,side stand, indicators, gear selector, etc. Has just taken the insurance Co. ages to pull finger and pay out.
It's a good financial idea for me to give it up. Will save $1400+ pa in rego and insurance alone and will allow me to play around with other toys.
I will however own a Superduke R within the next 18months

There you go then, my ride is now a ZX14 :shit: Its going to be very interesting next time I do the Coro ride. So come on you 14 riders, whats your opinions, tight stuff etc
The bike will surprise you. That’s both good and bad. Good from the perspective that it defies its weight and handles like a bike half its size in most situations. Its centre of gravity sits low so the weight of the bike is close to the ground and evenly distributed over its long wheelbase. It corners beautifully and with the handlebar positioning higher than normal you're not riding down on the front of the bike.
However the downside is that it makes you think that you are riding something smaller and lighter…which it most definitely aint. You'll need to spend time understanding how to ride this bike in the tight stuff which I know you are very good at doing anyway. The key is braking sooner and smoother. Lines are rounder. This is even more pronounced in the wet.
Basically the mindset required to ride this bike requires you are set up a lot sooner than most riders so that you are cued up for a straighter exit...especially on the quicker rides. You can defintely point and squirt but to point the bike in the first place means being harder on the brakes and turning the bike on a dime at very slow speeds. You may be able to throw a 600 around this way but not a ZX14.
Follow Beyond and Busa Pete on the next rides you do with them. They are great ones for smooth flowing big bike type lines.
On another note I personally think the bike (in stock form) is sprung too softly. There is no feedback through the front and especially the rear. However - you don’t want the bike sprung too hard. So check the suspension and make sure its set up for you, your weight, riding style and typical of the roads you ride on. I put Ohlins internals on the front and shock on the rear after my off at Taupo and havent looked back.

Mate I don't know what planet your accountant is on :argh:
Sell the ZX10 to a 3rd party & you can claim any loss on it straight away including GST!!
You can then 'sell' the KTM to your company & claim it as a business vehicle. It is a paper transaction & fairly simple to do.

You can if you are working as a contractor or are GST registered. You can also claim your Petrol / Tyres / Servicing / Depreciation / Insurance & a few other things.
If you are a wage / salary earner then your :buggerd:

Was visiting the Tauranga crew today and got to see the beastie in question with MkI eyeball...
Very tasty and very big! Compared to the other machines in the garage it was like King Kong vs Bongo the Dancing Organ Chimp.
DMNTD and Unit were busy hairdrying the decals off so only "Ninja" remained. Too right! I should have thrown my leg over it, but I think the oozing power would have been too much for me and I might have peed my pants. Not a good look! (actually did I say peed? Actually, I think I would cream them!)
Will be good to see it screaming away in a shower of stones flicking back at me when the Toe-range crew have a ride again! :woohoo:

Finally got to have a decent ride on proper interesting like roads on Sunday. I LOVE my new ride. After 2230ish kms Im getting used to its power enough to start relaxing a little.
We rode some interesting twisties and although Im still being very cautious (which I mostly am most of the time anyway) I enjoyed pushing it a little. Im working on being very smooth, its cornering is a real pleasure, but your right BB, I agree re suspension but that will have to wait until I start earning so $$ again.
Definitely needs a power commander now, pops and farts like an old man, but I love the sound of my new cans.
I feel very fortunate to have such a gorgeous ride.

Its a beautiful bike in the flesh! and made for you.
Soundz the absolute bizzo with those new cans as well.
