All I was thinking while making that was "fuck that tarmac looks close", but yea, definitely gotta do it again. Maybe tape it to the sidecar insted of my helmet.

Cool, Mr Enigma needs to get his ass down to Timaru for the car meeting in 3 weeks to swing for Scrivy, id happily sit in the stands & drink piss for the weekend.
Its so easy, like falling off a log, or maybe falling off a sidecar possibly.
Have a go day date not confirmed yet, but will be October most likley because it fits in with our season nicely.

This will be fun again!!! My favourite day of the year!!
Especially as Mr enigma51 will be able to show Sidecar Bob how to hang off it with 2 fingers, taking his other hand off to wave to the masses, and swing from side to side under full throttle and texting at the same tim, all without breaking a sweat!!

I reckon fruitibix will be amped this year (kidney belt in tow)!! Especially since we are now going to be.................. and also......... and then the owner will modify........ and remove...... and then........
Should be an LCR beater then!!

Slow thrill seekers can go with Divvo and Kick, as first timers get a thrill on it even if you go slow, whereas the dudes with the kahunas can passenger on the side with either me or Sidecar Bob. Its not fair sticking high speed lunatics that wanna go fast on slower rigs.
I think mine will be reserved for the nutters only!:wacko::eek5::blink::shit::weird::headbang:

Seriously now Enigma, Unfortunately sit ups, press ups & all that stuff will prepare you for swinging no more than talking shit on the internet.
Its not a physical thing, its more a slowing down of the mind to enable you to move around safely under adverse conditions, (that is Scrivy hard on the hammer drifting on 2 wheels) Its about accurate movements & precise timing.
No have a go try out, maybe with the exception of Brett Sproull, has ever done a proper left to right swing even under trailing throttle, let alone race pace.

Sidecars, eh?

<img src="http://i32.tinypic.com/2wpk03t.jpg"/>

My grandfather drove one of those back in the day. All the acceleration and handling of a car combined with all the air-conditioned comfort and safety of a motorcycle. Sounds like a great way to get around if you're a masochist who's not running late.

Then again, I hear their lap times are just about getting to the 125GP level these days. I guess being overtaken by the safety car at race meetings got annoying after a while.

Still, on the whole, it's pretty good going for a bunch of tired old codgers who probably consider two mugs of lukewarm Horlicks a heavy post-race drinking session. Good on them for getting out there and giving it a go, I say. Don't let age win the battle, guys!

:niceone:

I'd best come out on the day and show you lot how it's done. I'm a bit on the heavy side, though, so that underpowered rig of scrivy's might struggle to get on the boil. Does anyone know if any fast sidecars are planning on turning up?

Yeah mate, it's not classed as a race day. You get to choose who's sidecar you'd like to go and swing on. Tell them to go as fast or as slow as YOU want. They do the rest!!

Fruitibix, Enima51 and his Randomness all want to go hard and break some bones I believe. So we will endeavour to have the TV cameras there to catch the events unfolding!!

I rekon it can be done, probably wouldnt want to make a habit of it tho, It has brake & gears on the "wrong" sides & people that arent used to it tend to jump on the gearlever to stop, Gearbox rebuilds are faarkin expensive & that sort of behaviour has cost us at least one.

Prior have a go days have conservatively cost us in excess of $2500 in repairs & upkeep.

Yeah, they are expensive - but bloody fun!!!
I don't own the rig, and if it was bent, the rider has to pay!! The owners rules - not mine!!
Only prob I can see is that it is getting a major overhaul this year - lots of major changes that will make it very difficult for anyone else to ride. Cant give away details, other than it will take me awhile myself to come to grips with it.

I'm fairly sure that most c00nts in this thread could swing reasonably well after a few practice laps if scrivy rode the sidecar fast-smooth-lap styles.

However. I don't believe that scrivy will do that.

I believe that scrivy will be putting in seriously crap laps, easily beatable by, say, Joni riding sidecar bob's old BMW rig with Enigma's missus swinging, in his efforts to create sufficient sudden G-force changes to throw people off and break bones.

Just an impression I've gotten.

You clearly have no idea of the sort of penalties the sidecar racing association impose for throwing a member of the public off at a have a go day, suffice to say it involves large quantities of ale, Very large quantities.
If he throws me off the situation is vastly different.

sidecar bob
11th October 2008, 11:13
For those that are wondering WTF front exit / rear exit is. Classic sidecars are required to be "front exit" in that the passenger must be able to swing left in front of the side wheel, they may optionally be rear exited, but must retain the ability to be front exited. Modern sidecars are all rear exit, (behind the sidewheel) Rear exit is a fast & tidy way to go across the machine, But a fronty is a bit like rock climbing to get from behind the rider to the front of the tray, especially through the Manfield esses.
I have neatly converted the BMW to dual exit, so i can keep up with the driver. Have-a-goers will be encouraged to give both styles a try.

No age limit. I have a photo on my office wall of my son at age 3 on the side with scrivy in behind him.
The biggest problem i had with him that day was him jumping up & down in the trailer on the verge of a breakdown because it wasnt his go yet.

mistake number 1 was picking a girls sidecar first thinking it would be a good starter, well i broke it after half a lap and had to push the farkin thing about 3k's back to the pits and i was knackered. they got it sorted and back out we went, FUCK ME that chick is bloody mad, i was shattered at the end of 3 laps. after the second lap the arm pump was that bad my hands were numb and i was hoping they were still holding on.

mistake number 2 was jumping on with sidecar bob when i still hadnt recovered from my first outing, flying into the first lefthander i just remembered kiwifriut's words of advice "win or bin", so i just gave it my all. well holyshit:shit:, my shoulder rubbed the ground and i thought "fuck thems my good leathers" a second later i thought "fuck it, at least it will look cool" so i ended up dragging my shoulder right through at least 2 of the turns, its a fuckin wicked buzz and i was laughing like a mad man while it was happening.

by the end of lap 1 i knew i was fucked and wouldnt be able to hang on for much longer as i was having trouble pulling myself back off the ground, then as we exited the turn onto the back straight, i pulled myself up too soon and me and bob did the good thing and decided to jump the curb and mow abit of the lawn. thats when i pulled the pin as i knew i was too fucked too do a proper job anymore, and i didnt want to end up like the poor bastard who decided to get off half way along pit straight.:doctor:

sorry to cut the run short steve, i was just too knacked, but i had a fuckin ball mate its the best fun i have had on the track i reckon.

anyone who hasnt done this and thinks it looks easy needs their head read, fuck knows how they jump around on the back for 3 laps, let alone a whole fuckin race.

Letter of apology

It is with my sincerest wishes that I publicly state my apologies to Sidecar Bobs Post Classic BMW sidecar.

Big tripod Fwrrrrrrr, I must hereby apologise for constantly taking the piss out of you, both to your face and in the public domain. After yesterday, I now have the utmost respect for you. You are truly worthy of the Scrivy/Sidecar Bob freakshow status! You were so gentle on me for my first ride, that it was like you wanted me to take the piss out of you. Then, once the gloves were off, you just upped the ante, and gave me the learn. I am humbled big Fwrrrrrrrrr. You gracefully showed me that you don't need big horsepower to have fun. I am forever in your debt.

Regards,
Scrivy

Great day, thanks! I think i'm a little traumatised from last year - I found it more frightening this time round.
Went out on the pink 600 first up, whey hey hey!, she's pretty quick.... lost my grip coming into the first turn on the third lap, that slowed her down some, thankfully. Then out on the long white / orange rig which was pretty straight forward. The most "enjoyable" ride was on the classic triumph, strange feeling swing off the front with nothing infront to rest against on the brakes. I was rooted by that stage :)
'ad a go on the long Lawernce bro rig which was gentle for the first lap, comfortable for the second and a bit much on the third.... I wondered why he opened it up for the third lap, apparently Mr Scrivener was giving him hurry up waves from pit wall, thanks Andrew
At least i stayed aboard, aye O' / Logan! :gob:
Thanks again all involved. After a lay down in the afternoon i made a full recovery and continued my normal activities.

I must state he was riding on a 'GIRLS' sidecar, with about 110 Hp, and she was taking it ever so gently, being the professional rider she is.

I wonder if he said anything to Tracey prior to going out with her along the same lines as he said to Sidecar Bob 'I hear you are a soft cock.......'

I had the best day ever! went out on the PB racing bike first off and after that I was almost just going to ride with them again, however with the people queing I thought I would give someone else a go. Wanderered off and bought more tickets before going on the black one with "Don't lick this bar" written on one of the grab rails (#47 or 57?) believe it was the swinger driving so had a nice sedate ride :)
Highlight of the day.. Having a go with John, on the then imaculate looking Guzzi which Brett used to swing on. Apon climbing aboard I first found the hand holds, then looked up and thought... Hmmm not much to hold me in here, best I hang on tight. With a push from the nice by-standers (no face plant like the other poor guy I saw do it) we were off, into the first corner I figured these guys don't need to warm up the tires, cause we were off and racing!A bit of air here and there, and on what I thought was the last lap we continued on past the pits for another! YEAH! Pace was getting pretty quick, all was going well.. Small incident on the last lefthander, hit oil on track, bit of sideways and superman action, creating a not so immaculate looking Guzzi, yet I still wanted more! John was straight back out there with another punter. I think I told him a dozen times that day.. If he needed a swinger he could call anytime :D Guess I finally understand what Brett used to rave on about!
