I was dropping a few mates in that area last night at about 9.15pm, when I came across carnage at the Sunnybray Archers Road intersection. Bike vs Car, there were a few cops and an ambulance at the scene so I decided to stop and help.

It was a noob Hyosung GT 250 R rider in red bike with L plates on, poor bugger the bike looked really new and the van was like a 12 seater thing. Talked to the cops and apparently the cager crossed red light and the rider just could not stop on time and ploughed straight into the car, it was an absolute mess. There are a few witnesses who saw the cager cross red light so the case should be simple.

Luckily the biker was ok though, stayed back and helped the cops, fire people and towey to clear up the mess and load the bike to be taken away. If anyone knows the biker let him know his keys are still in the bike not with the police, so get in touch with the towey and all the best with the recovery mate! And to the dick head who crossed red light, fuck you cunt !!

Hope the c*nt in the car gets charged with more than just running a red...

God damn it.... Why the fuck do cars doing illegal maneuvers always take us bikers out. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Because "us" bikers don't look for them hard enough, nor do some of us operate under the expectation that every other road user is going to do exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Good on you for helping out, and best of luck to the unfortunate rider.

I think most of us do both but you can't pre-empt accidents. Wish you could....

There's no such thing as an accident.

By the sounds of it - this would have taken out anyone (cage or bike) who was there. It just hurts more for anyone on a bike.

Just shows you really have to ride for everyone else on the road.

Yeah I'll be alot more aware of that when I return to biking, just have to think of the pain.

Nah mate he will get done, from experience he'll be charged with careless driving causing injury and running red light. So hopefully at least 6 months licence off and a few hundred dollars fine. I felt sorry for the biker aye a noob with a new Hyosung and the bike was new as with L plates on, what an introduction to biking.

But I am happy the biker wasn't badly injured probably a few broken bones. But if you saw the accident it was pretty nasty, front of the car was fully smashed and gone in and the bike was just a mess!! Absolute shit, in pieces.

Yeah, hopefully it doesn't put him off bikes for life.

Nasty thing to happen to a noob. Poor bugger! Hope the cager gets stapled to a wall by the softies, covered in fire ants and honey!

Yikes man... That's the scary thing... There are times when you can see that someone isn't stopping for the red and have time to stop, but there are times when you just have no chance, and the consequences are worse on a bike than in a cage.

Jim2> You don't know the details and really can't comment. There are accidents so get off your high horse.

There are no such thing as accidents. The guy in the van ran a red. That's not an accident, it's murderous incompetence.

What was that about a horse?

Id like to hear from anyone who knows the rider with details, as I had a collision with a car in glenfield outside my work - I heard about this at work - near where this accident happened

I nearly caused this in reverse the other day.. Was pootling along on the bike on my way to work, coming down Bryce St by the bus depot to turn right into Anglesea. As I was halfway through the turn I saw the car to my right start pulling out towards me, had a mental "You cunt why are you running a red", and at the same time looked up and saw I'd just run a red and he was in the right. Luckily he stopped accelerating and didnt hit me but damn it put the shits up me. I dunno wtf my brain was doing, but until that point I was running on autopilot or something. Pulled into works carpark and I my hands were sharking so much the missus could have used me for a vibrator. I think I need to start drinking a coffee before I ride to work or something to kickstart my brain, dont ever want to repeat that!
