Haven't posted for a while, so firstly Hi all :)
I managed to wangle some passes from Rizla for the Cadwell Park round of the British Superbike season last weekend including a couple of Moutain Top grandstand tickets :) We had an absolutely belting day but blemished by Leon Camier's crash after he landed badly coming down from some air on the Mountain right in front of us. We didn't realise quite how bad it was until we saw the TV coverage play it back in slow motion.
Do not click the following link if you're squeamish and broken bones send you all peculiar

Yuck. I rate that one up there with Conrad Smith's broken leg.
Not good. That one will come back to haunt him when he gets into his 40s and 50s.

Quite right; I broke my lower leg once (can't recall the exact name of the bone, spelling looked like 'labia' but I know it wasn't that) and it freakin hurt. I wasn't on a superbike either.

Possibly Tibia? Sure glad you didn't break your labia...:pinch:

Terrible crash but thank goodness he survived it. Couldnt get over the marshall running out to pick up the bike while the riders were still racing. U have to wonder how much they value their own lives to do wat he did. Thought we were going to c another accident, just glad it never happened.

Just looked on his site for an update and he's on the mend and hobbling about on crutches. He came away with a fractured pelvis and a femoral shaft fracture to his left femur (that's following the accident, not injuries received in hospital ;) )
The accident sparked a debate about whether Cadwell is still suitable for BSB or not, or whether they should look at leveling out the Mountain a bit. Bloody crazy in my opinion. One of the best bits of tarmac in the country, both to ride and to spectate, and I doubt racers would have it any other way.
Hell, a few of them even had a bet on during practice to see who could manage one-handed flight coming off the top of the Mountain  Jonny Rea won that one:

I've ridden that track a couple of times and it's fan-bloody-TAZtic Have some on board footage on my old ZXR 400 and some front and rear footage on my Gixer 600
It's a real mix of a track and like you say I'm sure all the racers love it. These things always come up after an accident.
Thanks for the footage. When do you plan to be in NZ and where will you be?

Yeah, I've ridden Cadwell three times - absolutely fantastic. It's my favourite track in the country... and while the Mountain scares the hell out of me every time I approach it, I love it :)
As for when are we going to get to NZ? Jeeesus, seems like never with the speed that my wife's nursing reg is taking to get sorted. We're hoping to be over for the NZ summer, but it's all in other people's hands now. It'll happen when it happens :)
It might be that we end up having Christmas here and then getting over as soon after that as we can. Might even look at just sorting out work visas and sorting it all out from there if things don't speed up a notch soonish.
Where? We're thinking probably Christchurch. Loved it when we were over at Easter... though we said that about pretty much everywhere we stopped
