I was wondering if anyone has taken a bike to Australia? I've read that you need to have owned the bike for 12 months, but that you have to pay 20% duty on the vehicle. Any advice on taking a bike across - including shippers?

Call the Ozzie embassy, those people are pretty helpful and you'll get it from the horses mouth.

I have no idea about shipping vehicles to Aussie.
But, from what Ive seen, some bikes are cheaper over there, so it maybe easier to offload it here and then buy a new bike there, may depend on what you have. Have a look on bikesales.com.au to compare prices.

I met a couple of guys at Paeroa two years ago that had bought there bikes this way. It was $1100 each for the shipping, both ways, just paid up NZ rego and wof for 3 months and they were away laughing.
I'm interested to know what the deal here is, as I may look at taking my bike to aussie if i end up moving there next year. However, seeing that some shops are selling the 2007 R1 brand new at $16k kind of makes me think i should sell up and take a deposit instead!
