Back by popular demand...The Great KBer Ride (WGTN)!!!

A number of people have been asking if I was going to organise this ride again this year, well...I guess I am.

The key point to decide on is the date; for the last 3 years the ride has been held on the first Sunday of October. This year, there's a suggestion about holding it on the Saturday of the KBer Birthday party which is planned for the 27th of October.

Can you indicate your preference by voting please.

For those of you that missed the previous years rides, this is a link to last year's thread. (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=33725&highlight=rimutaka) That should give you a bit of a flavor for what it's all about.

Once the date is confirmed, I'll start a new thread in the Meetings & Events section.

Cheers John

Big ride = excuse to drop everything and ride.

I'll be in whatever date you decide. God willing.

This weekend could be good, cause the Mrs is away. Not that I need permission to get out for a ride though!

Sorry Im another of the "I dont care" brigade. I will be there on what ever day it is.
A Sunday is sort of preferable as Im doing a bit of work on Saturdays at the moment, but I can get out of it.

OK I voted for the 27th to be the same as the birthday just coz it would be but really I don't care either. 27th avoids Labour Weekend.

I'm never sure where my work will take me so I wouldn't base a request on my choice because chances are come the day I won't make it for other reasons but fingers crossed I will.

Im about to vote I dont care on the date. The only exception is Id rather it wasnt on the 7th as that will clash with Bathurst. I know its not a bike thing but I wouldnt be surprised if other people wanted to watch it too.

Sunday the 7th is the start of daylight saving.... Worth celebrating?

21st is labour weekend - people might be away.... Roads will be busy...

Sounds good though..

Sunday 14 is Grand Challenge weekend.

The first big ride of summer always worries me. I hope everybody returns alive and unscathed this year.

might be better to advoid Labour Weekend probably.

No Bandit isnt going still. A bit of money and time will fix it, but I am hopeful I can get it going by this ride Merv.

I don't care when. I'm free any weekend in October, but avoiding Labour Weekend would be good.

Just a thought.......
The 27th there is a trackday at Manfield and the KB Birthday Bash, so there may be a few people who will miss this if it was on that date and honestly, who can handle more than a few hours with a big group of KBers??? LOL, so maybe the 27th is not such a hot date??
If it was another Sunday with not so much on the same weekend, it could give those who can't make the birthday bash or are going to Manfield a chance to make this ride, and will give us all another KB get together to look forward to.
Just thought I'd put that out there.......:dodge:

There was only one small incident last year, the rider came around a corner on the hill to meet a line of stopped traffic...not a major, managed to stop but then lost his balance and laid the bike over.

Labour weekend Sunday is the 21st, lets exclude that option right now.

Daylight Saving will commence on Sunday 30 September 2007, and end on 6 April 2008

Arg! I made it to this one last year - but this year it seems I will have to be taking my olds down in the cage! :weep: I tried to convince them I could ride my bike down as well, but  sorta defeats the purpose me helping out Dad to drive :sweatdrop

Hmm trailer the bike(s) down? Wonder how that would go, need to hook up towbar, wiring...hmmmm...:shifty: Ahh poopers :weep:

I forgot the 27th was the Suzuki track day, so I won't be free then.

I am also thinking it may be better on a different day to the KB party, so either the 7th or 14th.

I voted I don't care just because I am jealous, I miss riding around ol wellington and hope you have a great time. I have a fair few non-KB riding mates down there and would love to go riding around the bays and over the rapa again :)

You'll keep! :p

I wont be bringing my bike over for the KB party, and it might be a bit much for me (seeing as I get bad helmet hair when I ride) to look anyway decent for the Bash. So yea advoid the 27th

Looks like Saturday the 27th is the most popular at this stage.

I does kinda feel wrong to be organising a ride for a Saturday, but hey...this is a democracy we live in.

MMP would mean a ride of varying lengths on each of the days, so lets go with FPP.

I've been meaning to post about this.

I'm struggling to find the time between family, work & my bucket to organise it this year...does anyone else want to put their hand up to do it?

The main thing that needs to be done is organising somewhere for lunch, last year it was at the Pukemanu in Martinborough but the food is pretty average and it was slow. Other than that, it's just a matter of finding a couple of lead and tail riders for the different groups and then posting a thread about it.

So, who's going to step up and organise this ride this year? Might also be worth pushing the date out to November maybe.

Yeah...that was kind of the plan. :scooter:

I realised the other day that I've only ridden over the Takas twice in the last 7 months. Once for fun and once because I had to go to Masterton (it was still fun that time too).
