Yes, really. Free.
(A short review (http://www.newenough.com/boots/waterproof_sport_street_touring_boots/sidi/strada_evo_tepor_waterproof_motorcycle_boots.html) of the boots for those of you who can't use Google.)
They're size 44 (US men's size 10).
<img src="http://www.newenough.com/image/path/5240/Default.jpg"/>
I just had my recently-purchased pair replaced under insurance after my crash last month. The old pair are a wee bit battered and torn around the toes from the off, but still very obviously a 3-month-old $400 pair of boots. They're definitely nowhere near as fucked as the boots HDTboy rides in...
AA Insurance doesn't want them, so I figure I should generate a little positive karma by giving them away.
Most worthy recipient gets them. Post in this thread or PM me. Either pick them up from me in Auckland, or I'll post them out in their original box.

Young hXc is riding in what are essentially leather gumboots (they are bike boots, but styled like what horse riders wear). He could do with some 'proper' motorcycle boots....

Sell one of your Guzzis and buy a new pair of boots, you cheapskate.

Is he a size 10?

yep. Actual, those boots look identical to mine - damned good they are too - and hXc would pinch mine if they fitted his big(ger) hooves...

i have to put my hand up because i'm extremely broke and the one thing i need before i pick up my new bike this weekend is a pair of boots.
I don't mind if they go to someone else because there must be someone more deserving but i'd be silly not to ask. I'm shit scared of riding in my chuck tailors but that's what it's going to be for a while.

These are the same boots I wear, they're great. Easy to walk in and waterproof too.

You sound like the ideal qualifier.
I take it you fit size 10 shoes then?

OK folks, there's a few fullas coming out of the woodwork who actually don't have any boots to ride in, and can't afford to just go out and buy them.
So I'll let the thread run for a couple more days to make sure everyone sees it, then write a script to use a random number generator to pick someone from the list of guys who fit the above description (being a geek is useful, sometimes). I don't have any other meaningful way of deciding who to hand them to.
So feel free to PM or post with "Broke biker, no boots". One of you will have the Sidis by the end of the week.
:)

Begging earns you 1 extra point.

At least I don't have embarrassingly huge feet, Mr Can't Fit Into My Boots.
By the way, y'all, I found some Goopy Black Silicone of Doom in the gargre. I'll seal the right toe with it so that the boots will be waterproof for their new owner.

hXc thanks you for that. He appreciates the concern for his toe's welfare....

Well I would like these boots, but can't really expect them as I have already a pair of great boots I wear daily.
But what I do have is a bling for you for giving your boots away in this auction of the needy. I wonder if I would be so generous? Good on yer.
obstacle
6th September 2007, 11:53
Oh the humanity!?!!! I broke the laces on my chuck taylors this morning.
in other news, how do i also issue bling for such a generous post?
i'm thinking it might be a cool idea to set up a trade table type thread where i offer something and you swap it for something else you have and then someone else swaps for that etc. could work or might go nowhere.
anyway, back on topic - yay for dry feet!

I'm going to roll the electric dice and send the boots out tomorrow morning. Anyone who wants them and hasn't posted or PM'd yet, do so.

Dude! thank you so much. I spent all day yesterday in the rain on my bike wearing my chuck taylors. my feet were freezing and then numb. I even went to motormail to buy some boots but as luck would have it they didn't have any in my size for my budget. What a freaky turn of fate.
So, thanks again, i'm sitting here in disbelief at the amazing generosity of JR.
Stoked!!!
edit: now I must start that 'free to a good home' thread. Reckon it'll work? I'll see what i can find at home tonight.

Well, you can have a slightly scraped Shoei Raid II XL if you like... I wouldn't advise it, though!

Actually, Obstacle, I recall Frosty had a thread pretty much about what you mention...not sure that it got off the ground tho.

Was quite a while ago...maybe 2/3 years. I think it might have been aiming at the idea of having a donated gear 'library' for newbies to borrow from or if funds were tight, sort of thing...

10th September 2007, 11:27
Sounds like a great idea. I was thinking of more of a generalised "here's what i've got for free" listing for anything including non-bike related stuff. but then perhaps it's best keeping those things as seperate threads as they currently are.
either way i'm in debt to karma at the moment so i'm going to see if i can pass on the love in some form.
