Well I enquired about a bike advertised on sellmefree.co.nz . Turns out it's a fairly obvious Nigerian Scam. All details are below, with the email that I sent to the website in question. Just beware and don't get sucked in.

Pics and advert are here: http://www.sellmefree.co.nz/Main/ListDisplayItem.aspx?R=2715914&Ntt=cbr&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&D=cbr&Ntk=KEYWORD&Dx=mode+matchall

Email that I received:

Hello,

And thank you for your email and interest in buying my motorcycle. The bike is available for $3,200.00 US. It is in very good condition, as you can see from the PICS I sent you. Check your attachments to see the PICS. There are no mechanical problems with the bike, no scratches, never been down. I never raced the bike and was always garaged. The engine run perfect and are only 7137 miles on the bike. I have the title in hand. It's a clear title, no liens on it. Right now I am in United Kingdom, in London, with my work and I'm gone stay here for 2 more years. The bike it is here with me, but there will not be any problems in shipping to you. I brought the bike here and was gone register, but the taxers are to big for me, and the work it will keep me busy, and I will don `t have time to enjoy it. So, the only option I have is to sell the bike. The bike will be shipped from London, United Kingdom. You will not have to pay additional taxes just the price for it. The delivery can take up to 6-7 business days until the bike will arrive to you. You `ll have to be home to sign the papers to receive it. I will insure the bike, so if anything will happen on the way to you it will be covered. The total price you will have to pay with shipping included is $3,200.00 US. So, please check the PICS and get back to me as soon as you can and let me know if we can start the deal.

Thanks!

I then forwarded it to customer service at sell me free.co.nz with the following attached

Hi there, I inquired about an advert on you website for a 2005 CBR600RR which seemed very cheap, turns out it's a foreign seller. Smells a crapload like Nigerian Scammer.

Bike is way too cheap for the condition. It's in a foreign country. They are asking for the price in American dollars. They say it is in the UK but their English is terrible. Please monitor the adverts on your site. People do fall for these scams, and it's tragic.

It's all attached below.

Cheers

I'm not so surprised to see scammers hitting sellmefree.co.nz given they don't pay for a listing... What surprises me is that anyone is using sellmefree in the first place. They spammed me hardcore when they launched so I'm not inclined to support them.

:niceone: for spotting it. There's some goverment agency that deals with these too but I can't remember which.

Generally not - the number is normally bogus.

Will be interesting how long sellmefree leave the listing up there.

They wont anymore - with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act coming into force this week you should see a drop in the crap sent from NZ companies. Up to a $500,000 fine - thats a lot of GN250's (At least 12)

Had the same scam tryed to be done on me last year.Put a phone on zillion.co.nz and got a reply to send it to Nigeria via courier dhl to the embasy in Lagos, said they would pay air freight and wanted in 3 days.
Phoned dhl in nz and told cost was $165-180,sent email to them and reply was ok,and do you have anymore phones we can have.In the end said yep have 4 so if you send me $995.00 nz you can have them, they said once we have tracking number we will release funds from a similar outlet like paypal in usa.
Rang dhl and said to them what is nz dhl tickets start with i.e alphbet first or numerical, she said tell them nz and 6 or so numbers(can't recall exact),did that and checked the usa company and that is not around anymore, was about till a couple of months prior,so asked for money and still waiting for it.
Sent a real shitty email saying what a pack of scamming wankers they were, funny didn't get any feedback either.
