As many of you are aware, I'm off to Belgium on an AFS exchange next year. I am doing a fair bit of fundraising at the moment through KB and other places, and that will continue.
But in the mean time, I have been thinking of approaching the Lions Foundation. Have any of you done this before, or know of a suitable way to go about it? I really have no idea how much money they will donate to me, but all is appreciated.
All I really know is that if they do donate, all they expect in return is a lengthy talk about my trip and what it has done for me as a person. Well, that is what I've heard.
Suggestions and/or tips anyone?
Thanks.

The Lions sponsored my 10 day voyage on the Spirit of Adventure when I was 16, they needed someone to go, I had nothing better to do. So I didn't ask so not too sure how you go about asking. Maybe just give your local chapter a call and ask them the best way to go about it, they're pretty friendly people. Good luck.

Lions eh?
I hear they can have sex up to nine times a day.
You'd be gutted if you joined Rotary and heard that, wouldn't ya?

No dating. No drinking. No illegal drugs. No hitch hiking. The last two I do agree with. But the first two?
What better way than to get in touch with a country's culture than to get a girlfriend or boyfriend to help you out and learn things, or get a couple of drinks down you and learn about it that way?
Ok, not saying that I will automatically go and get a girlfriend and get drunk whilst in Belgium, nor will I even look for a girlfriend, but...what's wrong with it?
Just don't let either ruin your exchange.

So that means no drinking for my 1st 6th months, considering I will only be 17...Nah. Fuck it! Haha:apint:

And to Sticky; I have exams this week. Finished my exams and if we don't have any, then we don't have to be at school.

Some advice about the Lions foundation, when your asking them for donations it pays to go in hard like say "gimmie a fuckin big donation towards my AFS exchange to Belgium or I'll post up on the interweb that your all a pack of mean old cunts" that should work.

LOL, that wouldnt go down too well with the Father-In-Law. His response would be pretty much along the lines of, "Well off you go then you fucken little stain on society" followed by a nice long letter to AFS.
Mind you, some of the other lions club members I have seen are limp wristed hippocrates too

You should see them in the water mate. Thats scary ;)Yeh, my bosses are South African and recently moved here. They have a few interesting stories about the wild animals and stuff they eh.
Them hippos sound fairly scary eh. And the fact that my bosses' wife would rather take on a lion than a hippo is proof that hippos are crazy and one of the most dangerous animals around.

I would like to argue that a hippo is the most dangerous animal in SA. Lots of debate on that though.

Ummm, don't you think it's a little unwise to be looking for sponsorship then admit publicly that you are going to break the law? You don't know who could be reading and what you may have missed out on...
Just a thought...
