Technically a Darwin award only goes to someone who kills themself doing something moronic. But that is gold, cheers mate :D

No! There's more to it than that - Darwin awards are given for exceptional service to the gene pool. So, do something stupid, lose your wedding tackle in the process (but don't die) and you can still be a Darwin nominee. I don't know what the rules are around children, however.

From www.darwinawards.com - "rules"...
In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival.

There are "honorable mentions" for those inept enough, and who failed in removing themself from the gene pool...

As a wise person once told me, "You can never get anything idiot proof, someone will just breed a better idiot"
