Need help looking at a new bike

Hi, my wife wants to learn how to ride, and has authorised me to spend up to $1000 to buy her a cheap runaround. Tomorrow I am going to look at a bike in Tuakau at 4pm and was wondering if anyone mechanically minded would be interested in coming along to give it a bit of an inspection. I dont expect it to be perfect, but I need it to be safe to ride, and not be in need of any major mechanical repairs. I am in Auckland and would be more than happy to give someone a lift out there in the wifes car. The bike is a yamaha XS250.

I can't, for obvious reasons and I'm also not mechanically minded, but does AA do vehicle checks on bikes like they do with cars?
