1)Who has a tattoo on their bod?
2)Where?
3)What's it of?
4)If there's more than one, what are they?
5)Why'd ya do it?
6)Have you got pics?

Just curious.

I have a few in various places and yes if I saw some flash I like or could modify into something I like I would get more.

One thing that puzzles me more than anything is why non tattooed folks are concerned whether or not a person has tattoo's and how many where as those of us who have ink don't care either way, please note this is not a comment on the post but just a general observation.

I got inked before they became trendy, and every guy started sporting one to show off to his mates and ever second female had a tramp stamp applied, to me they were and still are a personal expression, and where as I suspect folks who are now going out getting their favourite band's logo applied in ink and calling it expression, I will never regret getting mine.

yep, but all outdated

yeh, i got mine done cos i liked em. the rose was a personal design by the artist, the butterflies are "off the walls" i saw an armband that i wanted when i was 12 or so... still want it done, but need to track down the art first. i want more... its been over a year since i got inked last, and the cravings are kicking in again.

Are you assuming I don't have any tattoos? I find them as interesting as the person wearing them. I have seen some that have been done 'inside' and they look fine. Montotone, but fine. Some are deserving of being torn off at the owners death and framing, to be hung in the foyer of a flash house or hotel.

I like 'em.

Nope I learnt not to assume anything, and as I stated that was not directed at the post but just a general observation, as I am sure having tats you must have noticed.

And I must say I agree with you on the above comments re the ascetic appeal of some tattoos, they are works of art that deserve to be framed and kept on display in a place of honour, some just deserve to be torn of the owner whilst the person is conscious and destroyed in a manner befitting the load of bollocks that they are. I will endeavour to take a photo of the only semi visible ink I have and post it later, (its a bit hard to hold the camera and take the photo).

I don't mean to hijack your thread but here is another question to add how many of you tattooed folks have had stupid negative reactions to you tats when people have seen them.

I have had several but the worst I had was from a previous employer (retail), who noticed my tats faintly (and I mean barely visible) showing through my white shirt we had to wear, they demanded I cover them to make them invisible or I would be suspended from duties pending a review of my contract, I ended up having to wear the uniform jersey in the middle of summer, inside a building that just barley below the maximum allowable working temperature.

Their logic was customers would believe any employee with tattoos was a gang member, oh and better yet any guy with an ear ring was a pirate (I am not joking those were the words used).

My interest in tattoos is purely historical. There's an interesting book on
The Encyclopedia of Tattoos. I'm pretty sure that's the title but I do not know the writer. It covers the tattoos and designs of the Russian criminal and their tattoos and what they mean. Most are done on the 'inside' and there is a strict regime of what you can put on your body and what you can not. It mentioned about one guy who had his tattoo cut off becasue he was not entitled to ear it. For those interested it's a book worth looking out for.

Just curious.

Have one on my upper right arm/sholder. Its a ying yang around the wrong way with a cross between a flying fish and a dragon around it. I got it after I broke my back and was still in Burwood Spinal Unit and was rather hypo manic on a cocktail of prescribed meds, one of which was doing me more harm than good. It signifies a rebirth for me, surviving a near death accident. I am a water sign, the fish. But the rebirth is the dragon element. As for the ying yang around the wrong way? Its signifies balance in my life, which has been, since my accident, way off balance (I did not realise at the time) and as I'm not Asian, I put it the wrong way around. I had a picture, but I reciently deleted it (bugger) accidently. Looking back at the last 10 months, I probably would not have got the tattoo had I had been more stable. However in saying that, its my own design and looks relatively cool, or so I'm told.
