Heya mate, try contacting 'S&R Pro' in Oz for info. They turbo'ed a Yamaha Zeal 250 with a turbo off a 660cc car. 23 RWHP stock, 115 RWHP@18,000RPM with the turbo running a 12.7 sec at 118MPH down the quarter mile. Not cheap though as it used some fancy gear and cost about $7,000 + bike.

ooooooooooooooooooooooh shit....

It has been done. Tends towards having problems of having sweet FA reliability.

Use the search function and look up 250 turbo, i'm sure it will pull up a couple of threads from years gone by.

i think supercharger would be a cheaper option, and simpler also....

ive heard of a cbr250rr that got turboed and they converted it to fuel injected too apparently midrange was insane

I am thinking i will start with injecting it, then as money allows will continue down the path.

I really like to tinker with things, so don't get me wrong, but I really feel you're wasting your time. If you're going to build a hand grenade, build a worthwhile one... it won't cost appreciably more to turbo a large gsxr, and the resultant bike will need a whole lot less flogging, hopefully lasting you a lot longer.

But that is normal........

Being abnormal doesn't preclude you from applying a certain amount of rationality to your actions.

Lol. Ok i will type my reasoning....

I dont just want a fast bike, i want a fast bike that people do not think will be fast, something that people will just scoff at until it kills them, (and partly so people will say 'what was the point;.

Heh ok then! I think the plan of sorting the efi out first it probably a pretty sound one. Iddy biddy little injectors and a puter that can handle the revs of a 250 won't be cheap, but nothing is impossible  Something that made me think twice was the CBR125... it's injected, might be a good source of donor injectors? No idea what they flow, probably enough for 15-18bhp, maybe more with higher fuel pressure?

McDuck

Do you mean an extra 15? Because the bike alredy has 40 odd...

No I mean that the injector can flow enough (at stock fuel pressure, whatever that is on the CBR125) fuel to support the 15-18 odd hp that the single cylinder CBR125 has. So you'll need 4 of those, which means you'll be flowing enough fuel for 60-74 odd horsepower. With higher fuel pressure, hopefully they'll support closer to the 80-90hp that you ideally want to achieve (or more?!).

Is anyone else wondering.... WHY!?

Everyone forced to have a 250 is going to want to turbo it. I know I have. I suggest with the money you should get a race bike. You can get something faster and get to use all that power.

Also, a candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. You may get 100hp out of a 250, but it may only last an hour or 2 before you need to spend several more grand on it to get it going again.

Exactly. Lot less hassle just bunging a 400 motor in there and keeping it registered as a 250. Frankly, bunging in a goose/DR350 motor would be more entertaining.

Fuckit - just get a NSR250, RGV250 or RS250.

Job done.

either that or fit nitrous to the fucker and be done.

But the thing is it is a stock NSR250 or RGV250, not a katana that breaths fire.
Dont worry, know most people will not get it.

Oh and for the time being i would be very happy with 70. Dont want to kill myself after all.

turboing a carburetted engine has too considerations to make it worthwhile without getting into technical details you most likely will not be able get it fueling the correct mixture thru all revs only some if any.

you'd need a fuel injection system which most 250cc bikes simply do not have, you'd have to adapt something or make something and then you'll be able to get things started.

Will be issues with alternator output being too low for all the extra's.
My FZR1000 only just cuts it with a 28 amp alternator and I'm sure the CBR will be much lower.
Mine doesn't charge at idle with H/lamps on as it is.
Also lot of EFI won't handle the RPM that your bike would do either - maybe LINK?.

But just think - it would possibly be the one and only inline 4 250 turboed in NZ!
