Suzuki SV650 VS Kawasaki Z750

Both seem to be very similar bikes, although the Z750 a bit more powerful. Does anyone have experience on either of these bikes? They have very similar prices too. So in about 6-12 months time, I will be looking to upgrade from my 250. I have access to an old GSXR750 that I can learn on but then I want my own good sports bike when I'm ready but I don't really need anything like a GSXR750/1000 or Ninja etc. I also had a look at the Suzuki GS500F which seems alright. The SV650 seems like a common bike I have seen a lot around.

the sv is rather a heavy bike had one on loan for 2 nights didnt like it at all the z750 now i would like to have a really good look at one of these try mteden motorcycles dosent hurt to go and have a look even sit on one.one question though are you on l plate /restricted .

From what I've heard the biggest difference might be the 4 cylinder versus v-twin thing.

After the GSXR loaner you need to ride a twin to compare.

z750 pwns the sv650 by a large margin.

I didn't think so so just looked at the nz websites for zook and kwaka and

k7 naked SV650 = 168kg dry - K5 72hp 84nm (from here http://www.suzukicycles.org/SV-series/SV650-SV650S.shtml )
07 Z750 = 203kg dry - 106 ps 78 nm

GS500 is a good step from a 250, assuming your 250 is not a high performance type.
Z750 is a good choice if your 250 is a high performance.
However - neither of these bikes are 'sports' - the GS is an overgrown commuter, and the Z is a sport-tourer.

Had a Z750 since 2004, it's a lot of fun, the newer one this year is a bit more refined. I've had it for 3 years and have no intention of selling it. What a hoot.

I had a SV650 and would describe it as heavy, as the centre of gravity is fairly high compared to other bikes I've ridden. Going by weight alone is deceptive, you need to get on the bike and feel where the weight is.

I had an idea the SV1000 was more Z750 priced, so took a look at the Kawasaki and Suzuki websites:



SV650 $11,000
SV650S $12,000
Z750 $12,500
SV1000S $12,500


The prices are probably all lies, but there they are.
