What about if you own more than one bike?

we own motorbikes, does that mean we must discuss nothing but motorbikes? Crikey, what a pack of trainspotters we'd be.................... (or anoraks if you prefer.....)

Agreed. What Ixion was trying to say I am sure is that we are bikers and should be able to talk about anything and I have said this many a time why worry about threads being so damn on-topic perfect and why PD anything slightly funny or objectionable if its just not quite right?

Bikes, we have 5 in our garage.

Motorcycles are the "glue" that bind us together on this site. Some have many bikes, others are aspiring to get their 2-wheeled toy.

The best comparison of KB, is to that of a pub.
People chat about all manner of things over a pint. The topic of discussion wanders about and changes/mutates to all manner of subjects.
Luckily you do not get a smack on the hand for such things at a pub, but you do get "spoken to" by the bouncer if you start a fight.

You also get those funny bastards, who make your sides hurt, from their antics.
Usually at the end of the night, you are unable to remember all the funny stuff - but can clearly remember having a whale of a time... just like going to a Billy Connelly show!

we own motorbikes, does that mean we must discuss nothing but motorbikes? Crikey, what a pack of trainspotters we'd be...
There are a few members of "another" biker site who proclaim that they are "sick of the drivel on KB", then proceed to create plenty of their own drivel. Hypocracy?

You certainly have a choice of bikes if they are all yours!!

It was nice to see Motu back on here by the way, so we don't want to scare him off again do we. Let's keep having fun!

According to who? That is where some problems arise...

If someone accidently mentions their washing machine in a thread on brake pads does it matter or something similarly off topic? That's what I'm saying why worry about how a thread lives through its twists and turns? So I'm saying according to the mods who say "keep it on topic".

I wish...

But I'm sure I'd the right to test ride a few of them if I told the boys at Holrshot that I'm willing to upgrade...

Ideally, I'd have a garage with a R1, a 1098 Ducati and a 675 Speed Triple...and I'd keep my little VTR250 cos i just love her lots

A for the rest of your post, very well put!:niceone:

Read Ixions points again......

"It was "a site for all New Zealand motorcyclists" . Now it is not"

78% say they own bikes, the ususal 8% suspects say they dont like motorcycles............so 86% own motorcycles plus those who have wish lists.

Oh I ignore them but I think they are definitely counter productive. Most other bike sites don't use them and don't seem to suffer the immaturity level of KB.

Like me you are not one for abusive language I know, however I remember you not being impressed back here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=962503#post962503 when the mods played even with your discussions that at the time I believe were harmless fun.

I think you are very much like me - enjoy your bikes, enjoy your fun, enjoy your photography, and have difficulty with the buggers that seem to want to spoil things for no reason. Why is anyone on this site not nice to everyone else? Buggered if I know, I have no ill feelings towards anyone but am just slightly surprised why the moderation is so intense and I don't think it is necessary.

Big Dave

mate - i'm not revisiting - but i din bitch about it on adv was my point and the only reason i'm responding is it's you.

my advise to anyone is to do what i do - if it's annoying you - log off.

Perhaps you misunderstood me....I agree that threads gain a life of their own, and their twists and turns of topic/offtopic matter are too often sent to PD. I'm saying that it is a mod that makes that call, often disagreed with by the posters in that thread. Seldom is it that a poster gets 'upset' by an offtopic post. If a post, or series of posts, in a thread are just part of that thread's life, then leave them there.

OK sounds like we actually agree on this issue and in your comment there is perhaps a thought - can the forum be set up so that a thread starter actually has the rights to be the thread moderator so then mods wouldn't have to touch anything except threads that start off absolutely derogatory about someone else in the first place?

Motorcycles are the "glue" that bind us together on this site. Some have many bikes, others are aspiring to get their 2-wheeled toy.

Although there are a few here (well at least one that I can think of), that have/are selling the bike(s) as they cannot ride anymore. Although I think that common interest in motorcycles is the glue, not the want to, or motorcycle ownership. Which is probably a good thing, as the site should be also about helping anyone interested into motorcycling, or for those who are interested, but for whatever reason, unable.
