I just traded my GSX750F on a brand new Honda CB1300S yesterday!! Bloody awesome bike!! However, I do want to consider putting on a new can, as the stock one is pretty quiet, and fairly large!
I think I'll run up the first 1000K's then replace the stock jobbie!
I want an oval stainless steel one. I prefer the look for the CB.
I just want to replace the can rather than the whole system.
I don't know much about them yet, but have been looking at possibilities like maybe a Micron or an Akrapovic, .... a Scorpion ?? I want a good low growl, rather than a frantic high pitched whine!! Nothing too loud and over the top. Don't want no tickets!!! :Police:
Any printable suggestion ??? :niceone:
Cheers,
Grant.

Mine's not oval I'm afraid, but it is slip-on and it is stainless... and importantly it makes a great (road legal) sound!

Scorpion's are good for the low growl thing, reasonable price too I think, dunno if you'll have to trick your ECU though.

Thanks Dave, do you know what they sound like ? Any sound files of one on a CB1300 ?
I've sent the guy an email enquiring about them though. Nice to buy NZ gear if we can ... and its good !!
Cheers.

That suits your bike .... but not sure it would look so good on my S model. It kind of reminds me of the old original CB750 4 look. Quite retro !! :niceone:

I don't suppose you have got a sound file of the Micron on a CB1300 ??
It's certainly one of my choices. The only one I have heard on a CB1300, was an Akrapovic, and that sounded nice!
I'd be keen to hear the Scorpion, Micron, and the Neptune that Big Dave mentioned.
Cheers.

Well one of the guys at Planet Honda in Whangarei where i bought my bike, likes the Scorpions, but I have yet to hear one. Do you have a sound file of one on a CB1300 ?
I hope you wouldn't have to alter anything if one was fitted. Apparently you don't need to tweak anything for some of the cans. They just bolt right on .... and away you go!

I have an oval stainless steel Scorpion on my Bandit 1200 and it produces a nice low exhaust note, louder than standard but not so much as to attract unwanted attention. I imagine you'd get a similar effect on a CB1300. I haven't weighed it but it's significantly lighter to handle than the standard can too.

Sorry dude, no sound file but I have a Scorpion on my Ace and I think it sounds quite good but I don't have anything to compare it to as far as my bike is concerned, also have a mate with Scorpions on his Busa and they sound great on that, deep and throaty but not loud loud if ya know what I mean. I think the bigger the motor the deeper it will probably sound anyway and as for my comment on the ECU I think that is why Scorpion slip-ons are quite popular because you don't really to have bother with the ECU mods and what not ( but for gods sake don't quote me on the coz it's only the general impression I have and I don't know for sure) but i'm sure a bike would go even better if it was re-tuned when even a slip-on was put on.

Well My local Honda Dealer is going to check around and see what is the best aftermarket can for my bike, and well see what he comes up with.
From talking with him today, the likely ones are Akrapovic, Micron, Scorpion, ... and he had a few others he wanted to look at. His view is that the Akrapovic is really good, but also the dearest .... so well check to see if we can find some specs about hp increase for the CB1300S .... but it needs to sound like !!

I had a Micron on mine to start with. It sounded really nice and grunty. Also added a bit of H/P with no further mods. Then I fitted a full Acrapovic system and power commander plus remap. Didnt add much in the way of power but was a bit smoother. It was quieter than the Micron. Had a nice sound but not the same nasty growl that the Micron gave - was kind of "sophisticated" if you know what I mean.

Yes I have heard that the Micron does sound nice ..... and that is important too!! I know the Akrapovic system is good, but I don't want to spend that kind of money at the moment. I think the Micron or perhaps the Scorpion are my most likely choice.
However, I'm off tomorrow morning on a road trip .... somewhere south of Whangarei .. who knows exactly where yet ... and I'll clock up a bit more than the 1st 1000K's ready for it's 1st service when I get back. At that stage I'll get the new pipe put on. Mike at Planet Honda was going to look at both the Micron and Scorpion for me ... and we'll chat about it and decide when I get back.
Thanks for the input. :niceone:
Cheers,
Grant.
