Bike clothing worth at least £8,000 has been stolen in a raid on a Cambridge bike dealers.

Thieves smashed their way into Allin Motorcycles in Histon Road before escaping with the haul thought to be worth at least £8,000. Suits, at an average value of £400 each, and jackets, at an average value of £100, were stolen.

Police today called on people to report anyone selling leathers cheaply. Sergeant Andy Gallichan, of Cambridge police's crime management unit, said: "Bearing in mind the popularity of motorcycling at the moment and the fact that winter is coming there is the potential for the disposal of these suits."

Witnesses can contact Cambridge CID on (01223) 358966 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
