Hi Guys and Girls

I'm interested to find out what you think is a reasonable price to charge for having a boarder.

So if you have one, are one, thinking of getting one or just have an opinion on what you would charge. Would you be so kind as to fill out my poll and or give any comments.

I realise that where you live, size of your house and room they have makes a difference.

I have a boarder and they pay $150 a week. I didn't look into it before I took them in, it is what they offered and I was happy with it.

Just thought, as I have this site with the ability to do polls and get different points of view that I would ask.

Hope you all had a fanTAZtic weekend.

Taz

do you own the house or rent yourself?

if it was rented and you were having a flat mate on long term, i would say that you suggest halfway all the way (except phone), half the total rent, half the electric bill etc etc.

if you own the house and are just renting the room with "use of facilities" then that i think is a pretty fair price you have given them. that said, it can vary to if you are in a city centre, suburbs or in the "country" more in the city than in the country.

hope that helps a little.

What poll?

:edit: Found it, perhaps have it merged, or else linky to it.

I'd linky for ya, but I'm feeling decidedly unhelpful tonight.

Sounds fair, guy at work is doing a course at polytech for a couple of weeks and is charged $25 day for bed and meals (2) so is $175 week, lady has 6 kids staying so not a bad earner for her.And the monies guaranteed by polytech through the course fees they charge.

Poll is HERE (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=56845) - perhaps PM a mod and get them merged before the infraction police arrive...

Tell us more about the circumstances? What are you supplying to the boarder - room, power, phone line - any internet - do you feed the boarder? Does the boarder have to do any of the work around the house like dishes?

He has a double bedroom and full use of the house except my room. It includes everything except food. He does the dishes sometimes but that's about it.

I've pm'd a mod re the poll not being at the top. Thanks to Donor for finding it and putting it in a link for now.

Bastard - I was enjoying being entirely unhelpful, and you cunningly made me give a damn.

OK, no food, $150 in Papakowhai sounds about right.

tazman i merged the two threads together, but it killed the poll i believe, so you might have to create a new thread, or see if you can remark the poll here.

Thanks for trying I'll have to re do it another time as I really need to eat

So if you can kill it for me before too many people get annoyed with it, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks to those that replied.
