Mixed about this one. Doesn't look too bad, but yamaharley indeed. Even has similar engine size, 113ci. (1854cc)

Looks cool apart from the kinky pipes. 113ci, bet that sounds cool and the blue looks better than the reddish one.

dont like them pipes or front fender...Vance and hines pipes will make that 113 sound sweet, not a bad harley knock off but

Reminds me of that Suzuki thing .... M109? ... but with less plastic.

And better cornering clearance.

Like most of the metric cruisers, it seems to have a few too many "styling for stylings" sake or too much chrome. Not much, just needs about 10% less of everything all round (apart from those cubic inches). The Raider (not the S) looks about right, but again - why do the pipes kink down? 'Cause the designer thought it looked cool, and no other reason? If they'd run them straight, not level with the ground but carried that line up and back, they'd look better. Other than that, very nice.

You can tell the difference? Only thing I've spotted so far is the S has a bit more chrome paint on it. (Headlight, indicators, air cleaner cover....)

Agree with re the pipes.. Why the bend?
Only thing I can think of is to hide how much they flare out twords the back. probably something to do with them needing to be bigger to meet latest emissions laws.

Not coming in 08 now. You'll notice they don't have a VMax listed for 08. At all. Gonna be worth the wait though. The new engine supposedly puts 210BHP at the crank, stock. Seems the most common rumor even coming from people inside Yamaha so should be the closest to truth.

shite, thats a weight.
But I actually like the look of it... way nicer than the M109, which i reckon is a bit fugly esp from the front.
and I way prefer the red one to the blue, blue is soooooo common.

I gotta agree it looks better than the M109, but its the front fairing on the M109 that stuffs up its looks. But the Raider looks so damn cool standard.

Looks too much like a harley. I prefer the M109 - at least it looks different to most of the other cruisers.

And people bleat on about how heavy Harleys are!!

But a VERY nice looking bike, everthing sounds/looks damn good but oh, those pipes - waaay too bulky looking, kinda detract from an otherwise excellent bike imho.

i was over at the honda dealer in wangavegas a few months back as they happened to be unpacking a brand new goldwing so i asked the guy how heavy... shipping docs said 343kg :shit:

more than twice my 21 yr old VFR and 75% more than the RF!

Give me the M109 any day. One passes me most nights on my way home, sweet sound, and it's got attitude. I know what bmz2's gonna say when he sees this. He he might be biased but I will have to agree with him. The M109R? has got that muscle look without being overdone to look too pretty. But then I'm a Suzuki man!! I'll make my final decision when I see and hear the Yammy.

190 rear tyre , rear fender has to go , look like the pipes are not right for the bike, 300kg+ ,same as the m109r ,nice size motor , should handel ok , hd copy? , there is only so much you can do with a frame and a big twin and fenders . metric cruiser, again good value for money.

Agreed with bmz2.

It seems a lot of riders are intimidated by bikes in the 300kg+ range, but if you are a reasonably experienced rider and have the size to back it up then bikes like the M109R at 320kgs (claimed dry weight) ride really well for something that - once its oiled and fuelled plus rider and gear - weighs the best part of half a metric tonne.

That bike looks okay, they all have their good and bad points and most of which are merely rider preference anyway. Enjoy!! It's good fun to have something a little different from the sea of sportsbikes that all pretty much look the same and few ever really stand out.

good point Toaster most people are intimidated by big bike but man there good fun to ride. this new Yamaha looks more like a Victory but what the hell its a dam side better looking than the Roadliner ,just for your info the new Roadstar 2008 is now injected and running a 1670cc motor.

Now you mention it, it does look like a victory, or at least what I have seen of one anyway.

I must be on tablets, 'cause that looks really hot. I don;t think the Victory motors look so good, the rest is perfect.

For a promotional video of the Raider, click here (http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelvideo/588/559/0/video.aspx). Although it's quite cool, the droopy exhausts still look wrong to me. Good market for V&H etc.

Nice lookin bike overall.
If it was mine I would lose the ugly front fender and ugly duck' s bum rear fender and replace them. Most definitely lose the curvy pipes. They look droopy and spoils the lines of the bike. Replace them with Cobra Slashdowns or similar. Love the style of the bike. Engine and frame and forks look just right. The red is beautiful.
