You'd think with all that tech they'd stick a damn camera on the bike so we didnt have to wait for the lard arse camera man to waddle up and get us the money shots

Impressive. An old man dressed only in suit pants, dress shoes and T-shirt on the sidewalk next to a busy street straddling the fastest battery powered bike in the world weighing 250Kg tells us "I don't normally do this, I am not the rider but the bike does 0 - 60 miles/h in less then a second and produces 400Hp" He then takes a handful of throttle on a spot of petrol..and woooosssh - crash - hospital. Sorry if I have no symphaty apart from for the innocent cage driver.

Hmmm,...no helmet or safety,...wonder what his sponsors would have to say about that.
Be no good without batteries !!
It is hard to feel sorry for him, esp doing a burnout on a sidewalk and not knowing what he was doing. What if he had hit someone.

Seems to be remarkably little damage for a crash at that velocity

-Surely a guy with his brain would make sure there was minimal risk for him to smash his pride. (And him self too...)
-The guy lies flat on his back. Would you lie like that if you had crashed in to a car?
-He is a distance from the bike. But we never get to see where the bike is in relation to him.
-No blood...Every crash I have had has made me bleed. And ripped my clothes...
-Nobody administering first aid...
-The bike has hit the car behind the front wheel and got wedged in. No damage to bike or car. Luck or...
-Sadly the film crew does do a poor job of filming the crash. Or perhaps they did a brilliant job not showing us what really happened...
Conclusion: We have been had. No crash happened. A public stunt that creates interest in a battery driven toy.
Successful advertising or a late grasp effort to get some interest? We will see.

yep. im with you on this one. Hoax.
No way.. would be heaps of damage.. and he surely would have been bleeding from his head at least.. that would have smacked the ground with no lid.. being the weight of a bowling ball.

Ignoring the idiotic stunt, quite a machine he has built, the are vids and stuff on the website: http://www.killacycle.com/
it does prove that electric vehicles can be fast and powerful, but I think he would have been better off making something more practical as it would be cheap to run

Feck I would never buy one. Dont care how fast or how 'kind to the planet' it is.
Half the point of a bike is the sound... having an internal combustion engine between your legs with more horses than a flipping stable.
You cant even "start" it ! Wheres the fun in that??

Um! Too many questions! Why this stunt? What kind of interest would they be wanting to stage something so dumb?
Looked to me like it was genuine and he just didn't expect it to grip and go! Not smart, I agree, but can't see it being staged.

Somewhere there's a story on 500hp MotoGP electric bikes under development...

See your point... but... have any of us heard of this 'bike' before the crash vid was splashed all over the internet??

Yup! It's been around a while, was doing demo runs at a drag strip in the States and has been posted on the net on other bike forums. Very impressive times around 10sec 1/4's. It's the genuine article. Main problem has been traction due to the max torque at zero revs nature of electric motors.
Though of course lack of traction wasn't the problem in this vid...

Do electric bikes have clutches? Or are they direct drive like most electric cars?
Might explain why the poor guy didn't just pull in the clutch.

Right! Electric motors don't need clutches. Apparently he was compaining afterwards that the "throttle" stuck and he couldn't kill it, so he was literally taken for a ride! With acceleration like that thing has there's no time to react!
Big issue with electrics where the circuit contacts are constantly being opened and closed is "sticking" and burning, so if there is any corrosion or "gumming-up" this can occur.

Go look at his website, he said he managed to slow it down to about20mph before it hit the car. He said in the interview he doesn't pilot it down the strip, so to my mind it just looked like a fuck up by a nooB.
Watching the youtube vid on his site, it looks like they do run a clutch, so the princaple is the same as a normal bike, wind it up, and launch the bastard. There are serious advantages in electric power for the drag strip, with a perfect torque curve, (or lack there of), and a theoreticle no limit of revs on demand. If you can keep increasing the current, a perfectly balanced motor will just keep pulling untill you run out of balls.
