Just had to tell you about the adventure

The trip today.

You just have to do this ride Stratford to Wangamomina and back or do the loop as we did it not a super fast ride but the roads are great and heaps and heaps of corners ;-)

So .....NP - Stratford Douglas to Wangamomina (bugger the cafe was closed) but there is a pub there ;-) please dont drink and ride the road was very cool for the type of riding we are into and then on to Ohura some gravel here but was ok ( no food here just rubbish stuff ) and then on to Mt Damper Road 32 ks of deep gravel that part was a bit nerve racking at times not for the inexperienced but we were very carful all the same and out to Ahititi just before mount Messanger and homeward. 260 ks and 14 litres of fuel (cheap day) jezz did we have numb bum's and burning shoulders mainly from the stress of the deep gravel 1000 cc Superbikes are not made to ride on that stuff

Glad you enjoyed the ride. Whangamomona is indeed a special part of the Naki.:yes:
If you feel like hitting the beers, the pub has good accom, at reasonable prices.

Yeah it's great. I did that road from stratford thru to taumarunui (some great gravel there too) as part of my Grand challenge practice ride on thursday. Stopped at the Whangamomona pub for a Pie and Pint for lunch. Did 930kms that day.

Have done this ride plenty of times on the CBR. Also for those with an enduro bike, there are some pretty awesome roads (well some of them are just barely) that link Whanga to the north Taranaki coastline. I was using google maps and making up my own rides on the DRZ.
But if your wanting a fang through some good twisties, Stratford to Whanga and back is pretty hard to beat. :niceone:

Can't beat the road and dinner,bed,brekky for $95 each,not bad,take an off road bike and go up the whanga rd to old settlements of Aotuhia and area,as the saying goes "we don't know how lucky we are".And no cops that far out,mind you the roads pretty narrow,and the signs mean what they say.
