well i went for a ride up the port hill this mornin. Twas a nice wee blat up to the sign of the kiwi & down the other side, all the grit seems to be gone finally. then i went out to Gebbies pass and turned right up to the summit road. going up the hill the back end went sideways a bit a couple of times. bugger theres still a load of grit on the road between gebbies pass and the observatory. though it does clear up mostly from the observatory to the sign of the kiwi. I guess i shoulda just gone out to Akaroa and back like last week though there was some grit still up top of the hill by the hilltop tavern then im not sure if its still there now, the rest of the road was clear then.

:niceone: I was going to say, "Damn you, you bastid!", but then I thought, "Hey - that's kewl", and pictured the ride in my mind, having done it a few times myself (without the gravel). So, good for you! Glad you enjoyed the ride.

Wish I was there meself ...

Sounds like a nice ride! I am really looking forward to being down there in Feb so I can explore a few of those roads. :)

Bastard, you utter, utter bastard! What a great ride. Sigh.

Good to hear that the grit has gone. It was pretty deep in places around there a couple of weeks ago.

What he said. Thanks for reminding me of the great rides I've left behind. My early bike years consisted of a Saturday dirt ride then a Sunday road ride to Akaroa for the best fish n chips around. Bugger, I'd need a map to find Akaroa now. Mind you I will be going back to Akaroa on the bike very very soon. Time to reminisce. Just reading those words, Gebbies pass, Sign of the native chook, brings it all back. What about Diamond harbour for a ride and swim- awesome. Oh the pain. take me home country road ...(Wife pulls power plug out)

Hey Artifice. I think you're the bloke that stopped and yarned to me and my mates over at Barry's Bay the other weekend? Pretty sure. Anyway, I went for a good blat about the hills and around the bays yesterday before work (night shift). Met up with a bloke at the Wheatsheaf that had just bout that SV thou from Sportzone with the Yoshi pipes and cans. After 42 clicks he was a happy man. He was headin over the hill so I told him to watch for oils slicks...
There was still a couple of decent patches of grit on the Summit Road that I thought would have been gone by now. I hate the stuff. No bike slung down the road this time, not like that run back from Akaroa a few eeks ago. Still brassed off about that. Nevermind, all good fun.

yeah Les, twas I. it looks like the council are starting to put real nice seal down on the hills these days. i work 3pm shift myself so if thge weather happens to be nice I can go out for a ride before work. it is just real hard getting my backside out of bed before noon sometimes... especially since i hace a second pc in the bedroom and can catch up to the 640 odd posts a day from bed.
