It is going to be a struggle for me going back to work tomorrow :crybaby:

Have really enjoyed a week of warm and warm

Sadly my 115cc's of unadulterated power was not capable of a rooster no matter how I tried, all I could manage was a front wheel sledge in the sand :o

Funniest moment was getting stuck in town during a bit of tropical, windy, rain thingy (for want of a better word) When we got back home I had leaves stuck to my neck, and looked like the perverbial drowned rat! Only rain we saw the whole time we were away!

Rarotonga. Thanks for that. That's where our next holiday is going to be. We've sussed out a handful of 'child-free' resorts and now all we have to do is select one. Oh, and save another $3 or 4 thousand bucks

Saving up is not easy for sure, we like to pretend we are rich as all get out when we are away, which makes it really hard to save for! Any where on Raro is nice, some of the up-market ones (non-kid like) dont have the staff on during the day to feed, and provide you with drinks when you want. I have been there 5 times now, fantastic spot, and really, really easy to get away from the ankle biting travellers if you want to!

Growling at them also makes you feel good!

The problem with too many sprogs there, is that people come back and talk about the place...

Soooo, the appropriate comments are "it's a shithole" "far too many terrorists there" "the transportation is crap and the locals are VERY unfriendly..."

Did you get out to Aiututaki?

Na, i have a brother n' law that is from there, now lives in Whakatane, there was however, 3 wedding while we were there and they all went out to Aiututaki....50 min flight away...then, if you want to, its another 3 hr flight to the northern most Island of the Cooks group...
Transportation?.... one bus goes clockwise and the other goes anticlockwise all day.... scooters cost us $120 each for 8 days and $10 to be legal....:niceone:

Looks like you had a good time - well done.
I was working up there for a week in March and noticed there seemed to be a lot more rugrats around than the last time I was there, especially at the Edgewater. I blame the Fiji coups

Mostly Fijians working at the Edgewater....awsome people, became friendly with a couple of them...give em' shit, they love it...they give it straight back....we only used the Edgewater for sleeping/breakfast (free) and happy hour and maybe a bit of snorkling, but mostly we were out, eating elsewhere, stopping where ever we wanted to and snorkel for a bit/swim etc and sat at the bar from 8pm onwards when the brats were locked away.

Any activities you can recommend over there? We'll probably go for 8 or 9 nine days (hopefully next winter) and there is a slight possibility that we may get sick of lazing around the pool and walking on the beach.
Actually a scooter race with Mrs Oakie around the island might be fun. Just like the Isle of Man! Well, Ok, a little bit different. (I wonder how many KBers we could get over there at once for our very own TT?) :scooter: :scooter: :scooter:

Well i did try and entice some to come over and do the Raro GP...there is shit loads to do there if thats what you want, but i would suggest getting a scooter asap and just do ya own thing, our days included stopping anywhere for and feed/drink... free snorkling gear/reef shoes under the seat, stopping at any of those fantastic beaches...the sand on the western side seems almost powder like, the fish you see? you wont beleive. I just ride around and see a road/driveway and go up to see whats there, thats the when you fined the best places...one place was the Waterline Bar and Grill...10/10 on every aspect...the best sunset pics were taken there, its owned by a cool guy called Chris...seats about 14 people and he remembers your name and keeps the drinks coming...awesome feed to....Fish and Chip place by the Harbour entrance/boat ramp...cheep and fucken yum...plate of chill battered prawns $8.50...you would $26 for the same thing anywhere else.

Sold a few bikes to guys in Rarotonga. Last was a Red/White 700 Raptor quad. Supposedly for towing a water blaster. A lap of the island shouldn't take too long on that.
