I was meandering around the internet last night/this morning and I came across a list of songs mainly about motorcycling, or songs that go extremely well with motorcycling.

Since I have a heap of spare bandwidth this month, and every month, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in compiling a motorcycling music cd which could then be posted out to members that are interested in it.

Tis a good idea spuds.

But some of them songs are so old it hurts :P

What about George Thorgoods Bad To The Bone? I guess my idea of bike music is a bit different to others :P

16th September 2007, 21:21
The song has nothing to do with a bike and has no lyrics but, the tempo in Alan Parsons 'I Robot' suits my pace and to me, would be perfect if put to a bike vid...if i ever get around to buying one that is!.

Man not sure how I missed Bad To The Bone. Maybe I should include Gear Jammer, although thats about trucking. Still a great song though.

EDIT: The above songs have been duly added.

Now I just need to find I Robot. Shouldnt be to hard though.

Life is a highway -- Rascal Flatts

Is that the new one? I'm sure I heard a song on The Rock that the chorus goes.. "Life is a highway.. I'm gonna ride it all night long.."

Maybe it's a cover song by a newer band?

That's the one. The Rascal Flatts' version is a cover of the Tom Cochrane original. I think it's better.

If you bring the songs along to me on an SD card or something, I can properly author it for burning to CD. I've got mastering software and disk authoring software that is used for when you send an album off to be pressed.

Ah! but since Orange Count Choppers built a bike for a movie of the same name, one could argue the song does have relevance... (whether it needed it, is another matter) but Im bored and generally prone to useless info..... :wait:

The Ballad of Easy Rider - The Byrds (not really a lot to do with bikes, but it would be a sin to exclude it).

Too Old to Rock 'n Roll, Too Young to Die - Jethro Tull (same again...)

Jesus Rode a Harley Davidson - Ugly Kid Joe.

Harley Davidson Polka - Da Yoopers. :)

Bicycle Race - Queen (or maybe not... "Headlong" could work).

Take your pick of bike related Judas Priest...
Wheels of Fire, Freewheel Burning, Hell Bent for Leather.

With you on most of them, and I see someone beat me to "Black Betty". I also like Nickleback "save me" and pretty much anything from the complation album "unleashed 2006". It is a wonder album - never fail to have a fantastic ride when I am listening to it, the gaps just seem to open up!

Album list below:

. Hate Me – Blue October
2. Doesn’t Remind Me – Audioslave
3. Lonely Day – System Of A Down
4. Far Away – Nickelback
5. Wake Up - The Living End
6. In The Summertime – Thirsty Merc

The copy of the Easy Rider soundtrack that I have in my hand says that The Ballad of Easy Rider was performed by Roger McGuinn, not the Byrds.

Anyway, add some AC/DC like 'Givin The Dog a Bone' or 'Shoot to Thrill' or maybe some Satriani, like 'Flying in a Blue Dream' or 'The Extremist' otherwise we'll all fall asleep at the handlebars.

I'm Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys

Punk meets Irish Rock!

In a big-up to down-and-outs and a general allusion to the dissolute lifestyle associated with some of their generic influences, Dropkick Murphys take their unusual name from a rehab centre in Connecticut. Hailing from Quincy, Massachusetts, the seven-piece band have developed their own brand of Celtic punk from a heady mixture of Oi!, Irish music, American rock'n'roll and hardcore since their formation in 1996. For the benefit of younger or mildly mainstream readers, Oi! emerged in the UK during the 1970s and can be broadly defined as 'punk rock for the streets'. Al Barr, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, James Lynch, Marc Orrell, James Wallace and Tim Brennan have an eclectic musical pedigree, with accordions, bouzoukis, bagpipes, banjos and mandolins lending instrumental backing to their vocals and obligatory guitars. Influences include The Clash, AD/DC and, of course, the Pogues.

Title: Soundgarden - Rusty Cage lyrics

Artist: Soundgarden

You wired me awake
And hit me with a hand of broken nails
You tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin to boil
But I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Too cold to start a fire
I'm burning diesel burning dinosaur bones
I'll take the river down to still water
And ride a pack of dogs
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Hits like a Phillips head
Into my brain
It's gonna be too dark
To sleep again
Cutting my teeth on bars
And rusty chains, I'm gonna break my
Rusty cage and run
When the forest burns
Along the road
Like God's eyes
In my headlights
When the dogs are looking
For their bones
And it's raining icepicks
On your steel shore
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

JOHNNY CASH LYRICS

"Rusty Cage"

You wired me awake
And hit me with a hand of broken nails
You tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin to boil

But I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Too cold to start a fire
I'm burning diesel, burning dinosaur bones
I'll take the river down to still water
And ride a pack of dogs

I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Hits like a Phillips head Into my brain
It's gonna be too dark
To sleep again Cutting my teeth on bars
And rusty chains,
I'm gonna break my Rusty cage and run

When the forest burns
Along the road Like God's eyes In my headlights
When the dogs are looking
For their bones
And it's raining icepicks
On your steel shore

I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

What no Chris Spedding? No '70s classic?

Sacrilige!

Motorbiking (Chris Spedding)

Motorbikin', motorbikin', motorbikin', motorcycling
Movin' on the queens' highway
Lookin' like a streak of lightnin'
If you gotta go, go, gotta go motorbike ridin'
Listen to me and I'll tell you no lie
Too fast to live, too young to die
I bought a new machine and then they say
It takes your breath away

Motorbikin', motorbikin', motorbikin', motorcycling
Movin' on the queens' highway
Lookin' like a streak of lightnin'
Baby won't you come with me
I'll take you where you wanna be

Here I am again, I'm dressed in black
I got my baby, she's ridin' up back
We're doin' about ninety-five
I said: Oh, it's good to be alive

Motorbikin', motorbikin', motorbikin', motorcycling
Movin' on the queens' highway
Lookin' like a streak of lightnin'
If you gotta go, go, gotta go motorbike ridin'

Strange no one has suggested Julie Andrews and the Sound of Music. They're all great biking anthems

On a more serious note. Iggy Pop's 'The passenger' is better than the deafbones.

Great ideal though. I would be keen to purchase a CD of these if that's where you are going with this. But only if Julie is included and Abba.

If we are including Easy Rider then 'Wasn't born to follow' was a fav. of mine. It was played during one of the better riding scenes in the movie and that image stuck with me from a kid. I think it was by the Byrds but I can't find my LP (yes, the LP)

Also Steve Earle's Copperhead Road..it sounds like it should be a biker song to me.
