Hi all,

Any opinions, foibles or reasons as to not buy one?

What sort of price would a '05 model with low kays demand?

Probably a near perfect post-250 bike with some caveats:

They're not really all that powerful (one of the things that makes them a good post-250).
Reliability is *probably* pretty good.
Resale value is *probably* pretty good.
I've met one or two monster owners who have started pushing them a bit and found them too softly sprung (and there's nothing you can do about it).
The 620 was replaced with an apparently substantially better 695 about a year ago.

That being said, I commute on my Triumph and find it a bit grabby at low revs. A Monster would almost certainly have made a better commuter - but substantially less prone to screaming around the countryside with a big shit-eating grin. Look also at the traditional post-250 bikes - a 2-3 year old SV650 would almost certainly be better value. The Monster's sound great BTW.

I s'pose it depends on what you wanted to use it for, but I at least have not heard many complaints from Monster owners.

How come? (That is to say, "Why?") :spudwhat:

I take it he means there's no suspension adjustments on the forks themselves. I'm sure there's nothing stopping you taking them to bits and fitting new springs.

Post 1995 Ducati Desmodue engines are among the cheapest to maintain.

the 620 fuel injected bike will get you about 23km per Litre, service every 10,000km (not 6,000km like a Jap bike) the bike's torque is greater than most bikes of it's capacity and it holds it's value better than an SV650.

2005 M620 probably about $10K but a 1998 M600 is still about $7K.

What he said.

Are there any differences between a NZ new and Japanese model?

Wow, looks like I could be in for a bargain if $10K is the going rate.
