Yep seen that video a few times.... his problem was that he wasnt covering his rear brake and ripped the throttle open a bit too much for a clutching it up wheelie....
Common Stoney, power wheelies on a R1 would be easy as :niceone:
There is something about doing wheelies which makes you feel like a million bucks (especially when your doing tem infront of people), mmmmmm balance point....
Just ask Death and WT, i bet they feel like a million bucks all the time lol.....

It's a testosterone/ego thing - you will all grow up one day (probably in various stages of 'cripple').
Should I post this? Probably get neg rep. :whocares: Yep, posting.

Nup, no negative rep for you mate :niceone: your intitled to your opinion, personally i think i am a dick head, but you can make that decision when you meet me....
I will most likely be on the track when im older, pulling wheelies in the pits.... some people never grow out of it (look at my uncle, 71 and still gets his knee down at 200kmh)
I know the risks, and i take them, sometimes you have to risk your life to live it... There is always a time and a place for stunting and speed.... But you cant do it all the time... I generally dont boast about how fast i go, I dont go fast so i can say "yeah im the man coz i can go fast" i go fast because i enjoy it and the adrenalin that comes with it.....

If you trawl the web long enough you will find videos of people cutting limbs off while mowing the lawn, losing eyes drinking with a straw, major puncture wounds from bizzarre knitting accidents, etc, etc. :whocares:
Personally i don't try as my balls are to small, but hopefully when i'm a more comfortable and experienced rider I'll give it a go.

I've done it on dirt bikes, and I'd love to give it a go on my gsx , however , I dont have the money to fix it when it all goes tits up, as it inevitably will !!

If I was going to bin it while attempting a wheelie/stoppie, I'd much rather have it filmed. Least then I'd have some cool footage to console me while I fixed my baby.
As for the binning in general. We all know it's a risk we take when riding in general. Just increases dependant on how far you want to push things. Not just with stunts, but speed also.

Im personally not into wheelies. Im a bloody tightwad and the exrtra chain wear, transmission wear etc just aint worth it . Add to that my consumate inability to pull a decent wheelie when I was younger.
Good on guys who can do it well I just aint one of em

Yeah I was riding my dad's new 97 TL 1000s yesterday, and was ripping a few wheelies. Got up quite high, but that video just made me re-evaluate the situation, might be a bit more nervous next time I make the attempt, and definately keep the foot just touching that rear brake.

Picture what happened above, but at 140+ kph, that happened to me!. Totalled my TL, leathers, gloves & boots, but was able to walk away!.
You should be hesitant, I thought I had wheelies covered, but obviously not!.

Wheelies are the shit but as is everything we do on two (or one) wheel is calculated risk.
If you're prepared to take it, go for it. If not, sensible choice.
Frosty Properly performed wheelies add very little wear to your machine.
TS I'm not good at wheelies. Riding with you fellahs that day 'round the coast, 60mph cross winds, I'm wobling all over the road like a mad womans shit on one wheel. Me and Cycosis followed Death for about 1.5kays at 140kph, while he stood up on one wheel, rock steady, not a problem.
We were just looking at each other going "WTF?"
We did however have a good laugh with you guys. Just how the hell you get your knee down while going in a straight line?
Amazing stuff!

Amazing stuff!Body weight of yours' and Andrews would have made a bit of difference as well.
P.S. After finding out that my bike has Ohlins springs and Ohlins dynamic controler or something makes me not want to practice wheelies cause I suck at them.
I wouldn't mind learning one day when the chance comes along though. I was haveing good progress on the FXR at one stage...

Must admit I save my wheelies for off the road. The thought of tumbling along the tar seal just doesn't inspire me to do wheelies.
Esp after flipping my best mates Gas Gas the other weekend smashing the rear mudguard and somehow filling the exhaust with dirt!
Good job he's one of my best mates eh?

Riding on the rear wheel is just part of off road riding - if you can't get the front wheel up at will you are going to have a hard time off road. But it has never entered my mind to do it on road,I don't need to to ride fast,so I don't - oh,the occasional mono over a hill or pushing hard out of a corner,it's a bigger thrill being sideways on seal than popping a wheelie.
Back in the days when dirt bikes were almost more common than road bikes as a city bike - riding to work on the rear wheel was certainly not unheard off, just about every XR250 you saw was popping a wheelie....

Another reason to be hestitant performing mono's, my new avatar should allude to that. Lost a tooth performing a bad gearchange from 2nd to 3rd. Complete motor disassembly to fix.

The problem is that wheeling these bikes is a lot harder due to the longer wheel base, and more forward and lower weight distribution. These bikes are designed to try and keep the front wheel down when going hard. Also I think it is better if the rider is heavier, as it increases the height of the center of gravity of the bike.
It is a lot easier to wheely an off roader due being lighter, and higher center of gravity, and a longer range on the suspension. Softer suspension also helps.
