Cleaning jacket/pant liners?

I just need to get the odour out of the liner, a good shower cleans the jacket nicely, but a suprise hot day leaves my liners smelling like an ice hockey player.

the liner isnt waterproof or anything but it does look delicate and warm.

any ideas on washing?

Yeah but in that thread you don't mention smelling like an ice hockey player :sick: I think that requires extra special treatment. How about getting one of those toilet deodorant blocks and stuffing it down your trousers?

The liners are put through the washing washine using household stuff. All available from the super market at half the cost of the bike accessory shops and works a treat.

Yeah, it's good to know. The liner is just insulation eh, doesn't have any fancy waterproof membranes or anything that can get clogged up by normal laundry powder.

if ya have tryed washing them
& ya still smell like a ice hockey player
there is i quick easy solution
go to the local pet store
ask for 'nilodor spray mist'

zip up ya jacket on coat hanger
& one spray up the inside body should be enough
remember this stuff is potent
tis also good on problem boots if 'grans remidy' dosent work.

Like others, we just wash our liners in the washing machine with normal household laundry detergent.

Liners are generally synthetic material so I guess they could retain a pong. If it was me I'd try washing them more often, but perhaps by hand and just spin them in the washing machine - if you were to put them through the washing machine often, I'd expect the insulating material inside would start to disintegrate.

Nilodour was a great product which I haven't seen for years and didn't think was around any more. Definately give it a try if you can find it - but heed Babyb's warning to use sparingly as it is (or used to be) very strong.

If you find you get really damp (sweaty) inside your pants, try wearing something else underneath and that will absorb the moisture rather than your pants and maybe they wont smell as bad! I don't wear my pants liners anymore, I wear a pair of thermals instead - can't stand the feeling of the pants sticking to me. All these fabrics are claim to be "breathable" but just how breathable can a pair of waterproof pants really be in the middle of summer....
