omg I ran out of petrol today 30kms south of wellsford and 20kms north of Kaukopakopa! was totally in the zone caining around on the bike -noting to myself how fabulously it was handling - how LIGHT it was feeling and somewhere in those farms between servos I glanced down ad the petrol light was on. I had no idea how long it had been on for as I dunno when I last looked at the dials... and after totally going gees what am I going to do-totally couldn't decide whether to go back to wellsford or try for kka so I just pulled over to collect my thoughts..which were awash. I stopped on the siding going oh god this will be a long walk... looked around and spotted a family outside a farm house. I turned around and beelined it to their driveway to ask whether wellsford or kka was closer.(:corn::corn:..then a white buell blew by and i thought god there goes someone who remembered to FILL their bike at wellsford!)...but from less to more they actually hooked me up with a 1/3 tank of gas from a jerry-can for their quad bike. they sooo rescued me from my stupidity:baby:

I managed to get to Kaukopakopa and get filled :)

I'd leant the bike to a mate yesterday who did sh16 and made the RASH assumption that he'd filled it before returning it & when I looked in the tank this morning before leaving it had looked full (in the dusty-half light of my west ak garage..) However i discovered the hard way there were 40kms already guzzled:spanking:

i saw gazzillions of bikes out today - and OMG it was such a good one

I know the whole-out-of-gas threat is a bit wierd cause sometimes if i use 98 i can get as much as 180 kms per tank - but on 95 and going quicker its as low as 140kms....that'd strand you in some parts of the country..:baby:

if you are AA member they will deliver $10 or $20 worth of fuel to you, you pay for the petrol but deliver is free

ba ha..not down where it counts - but sometimes if you look really hard my usually dark mop gets this I'm a super-blonde sheen to it... the transformation begins to take place from brown to blonde any time something sensible needs to be done...

Kaukopakopa

I think you mean Kaukapakapa. My stomping ground, and I always have spare gas for those silly bugger who run out.

Glad you got help! :apint:

I was very grateful to those locals I must say. they commented that they don't have to go to the dragstrip -they just watch the blurs go by from their porch instead.they were true dudes :)
I do mean kaukapakapa - and my bad for spelling it wrong... it was gold up there today-rad weather and lots of happy bikers enjoying it. Although i passed alot of cops on the way home which were luckily timed to the corners..

dont beat yourself up too much, I once ran out of gas on the southern motorway just before the Mt Wellington off ramp after letting my then boyfriend use my bike....out in the fast lane it started starving for fuel, i reached down to flick to reserve, only to discover i was already ON RESERVE!!!!

This was before the advent of cell phones too, so it was a case of pushing it to the off ramp, and then finding a pay phone to ring for a delivery of gas from the said boyfriend........he was not popular I can tell you!

He switched it to reserve and did not return it to on when he filled it.....nice one dickhead

ba ha - yes the italians seem to presume a level of intelligence that was apparently over my head to today. perhaps their expectations of the masses at large were too high -an easy error given they produced da vinci- hmmm...but then again..the italians produced fiats... but then again they produced Ferruccio Lamborghini but then again they allowed one to be done up in cop-colours...

I soo want to blame jarrod who I leant it to... but its more a case of ASSUMPTION was the mother of all mistakes...! It will make a good bit of banter when i tell him tho... next time (if i ever let him ride it again!) I'm sure he'll fill it to the gunnels rather than risk his next 996 loan not happening :):gob:

Yeah well even with the fuel tank gauges you cant be certain, we just came back from Rarotonga, my scooter was showing just in the red (about 1/4 tank) on the gauge, kept riding for a bit and then stopped to refuel. Just as well i did, when i took the gas cap off there was the bottom of the tank with the smallest bit of liquid if i tipped the bike over......LOL

A. surfchick is blonde where it counts. On the inside.

B. I'm fookin slutted I wasn't riding today.

C. surfchick, do I need to sell just my soul to get a play on your 996, or will the souls of my children also be necessary?

oh yo sooo should be slutted -it was out-of-control-cry-baby- beautiful today. i had the best ever time except for the gas moment. were you not riding because of ze thumb..?

c)
you can joyride when i see the papers for the house so I know you can make good on the ****1500.00 excess it has for a bin! :dodge: and did i mention I can't get state to cover theft insurance because I haven't got a immobiliser (even though I have a break-clamp? I presume I am getting mightily ripped off...or are they all this bad:bash:

however **if you ever do get a wee squirt on the 996 you will die of love:love:

were you not riding because of ze thumb..?

No, because of ze engine out of ze bike and ze head off ze engine and ze valves out of ze head and ze new inlet valves on a slow boat from Suzuki Japan.

:crybaby:

state... I presume I am getting mightily ripped off...

Probably!

Call KiwiBike insurance brokers now and get quotes. I have no doubt that Swann and Star will be able to beat State in every respect.

By the way, if it means a ride on the 996, I will personally count fifteen hundred-dollar notes into your little blonde hand in exchange for the keys. If I bin, you keep them.
