View Full Version : I need a longer clutch cable

I've just bought some new, slightly taller, handlebars for my KL250, but the clutch cable needs to be a bit longer, so I can't fit them up.

My local Kawasaki dealer said that getting a new cable made up would be very difficult, and I really shouldn't bother. I'm not entirely sure I believe them, so I'm doing a little research of my own.

The cable needs to be 70-80mm longer, so (I think) I'd a whole new cable + outer, rather than just the cable bit.

Does anyone know where I could get something made up?

Or, would other Kawasaki dirt bikes be likely to have a longer cable that would fit my bike? The stockman uses the same cable as the KL, so it will be the same length.

Thanks!
Rosie.

If you have the old cable as a sample - these guys can make you a new one Melbar Cables, 174 Eastern Hutt Rd Wingate Wellington 0-4-939 0699

It won't be cheap but they can certainly do it.

Cheers

Should cost less than $65 for a new longer inner and outer.
